The question you ask is wrong...since people are no longer answering questions on usenet. The proper question is...where can I find answers to programming questions.
I think Yahoo has been coasting for years. If my website logs are a reflection of their popularity they are in big trouble. Google beats them at a rate of 100 to 1. On top of that their version of 'adwords' is the worst I have seen (From an ad buyer's perspective). It takes days for them to approve the ad (Google takes minutes) Then when they do approve it they change the wording - usually done by a non native English speaker! I have had my software adverts changed to include the word warez. WAREZ! They need to clean house or they will need to fire more until they do.
It is interesting to see that they are starting to posture themselves in this way now. For all these years they really have not gone after anyone for patent violations - maybe that was because the going was good. Now that they have implemented all of their fancy piracy protection they need to keep others from providing alternative solutions that really are easier for a paying customer to use.
Kinda reminds me of communist Russia and their fences and guns keeping their people from leaving the country.
That is why it is sick when companies like Cisco, Yahoo, and Google are complicit in the suppression of free speech. They can say all they want, but when they turn over the information that directly results in the arrest of someone they are just as guilty.
Simple. The morons who can't use "Information Superhighway" anymore because we will flog them. They are looking for a new hip and cool word they can say to their friends so they can feel that they "Get it" and know what the net is all about
Exactly. I think they might not have expected this to happen. But many people are just getting so damn mad they don't mind spending more money than the fines to fight these bastards. If they had their way we would not even had seen the first MP3 player. If you can remember - they tried to stop the Diamond RIO from being sold. It was the first hardware MP3 player on the market (At least popular enough for the RIAA to notice). Just think if they won that case? Would we even see the I-Pod? Or would it have kept that technology behind closed doors.
Rootkits in windows are becoming more and more of a problem. I found this interesting site the other day when looking for a rootkit detector:
www.rootkit.com
The research even suggests that this therapy could help in the treatment of Lou Gehrig's, and Alzheimer's disease. This is some very interesting and promising stuff. Lets hope that this is not just some press release for a pharmaceutical company trying to push a drug they are working on.
The thing I find amazing about research with black holes is that effectivly we will never be able to prove this by direct observation. I guess scientists could tell us that superhuman monkeyoid hippies live at the bottom - and we can vist them - woot woot!
I submitted my legal problem and it responded:

This spying news with iTunes sounds more like jealous FUD coming from their competitors.
