true enough. but the amount of times I've typed ls or something similar is numerous. or for instance, when running a long command, typing the first few letters, hitting tab, and then pressing enter, can cause something other than what you expect to happen
there are quite a few ways that something can be run you didn't expect. Best off without it, especially for superuser accounts
you'll find it clever when you're administrating a server and you are trying to look inside someone's home directory, and when you type 'ls' instead of listing the directory contents it actually runs a custom script in their directory which does something nasty with full privelages.
Although I remember coming across a distro where . was in the path by default for all users except root. I still think it's better off that . is not in the path at all.
This is a Professor, a Lecturer! Have you tried having a discussion with a lecture hall full of 300 people? It does not work!
I take tutorials at university and I value discussion as a great way to engage students in actively learning. Class sizes have increased a lot recently and a tutorial of 30 people which is what I usually have makes it very difficult to have discussions with the class. In a lecture hall of 300, most people can't hear what others are saying. Although I have never taken a lecture it is difficult enough with 30 people let alone 300
discussion and group activities are a great way to teach people and help people learn in small groups like high school classes and tutorials, but when there is a lecture full of people it just does not work at all. That's why there are scheduled tutorials for most university subjects.
Region 1: North America, South America, Japan and East Asia (excluding China) Region 2: Europe and Africa Region 3: India, China, Russia, and all other countries.
This region listing is pretty annoying. Isn't Australia a proper country anymore? are we part of East Asia? or are we in the "all other countries"?
I still do that =(
why does everybody forget Warty Warthog? won't somebody please think of the warthog!
erm... what does this have to do with the Nintendo DS? This just says that many gamers are over the age of 20, not that they are buying Nintendo DS.
I disagree with the GP, just don't go spouting figures that have nothing to do with the argument at hand (and don't mod it insightful)
ermm... actually the DS lite has been off production lines for ages, they're just struggling to meet the demand in japan.
I don't know how early the DS lite WAS announced, but it wasn't very long before it was actually released
The summer of code would be great if it was actually on during the summer, and I didn't have university to worry about.
damn Aussie seasons
I don't suppose there's any chance of a Google "Winter of Code"
don't be fooled by the fact that Opera passes the Acid2 test, it means nothing.
Look at how older Opera versions rendered Acid2, that shows more accurately how good their rendering is
all they fixed was the specific issues tested in Acid2, not the entire HTML rendering engine

look at it from the other side
how can you become the worlds richest man when you don't wait any period of time before buying something

clearly the article is many years old. I'm sure the price of the flash SSD has decreased in the meantime
Who Zealand? =)
excellent! this means we can get cheap pirate movies without having to get a multi-region dvd player!
and the number one most popularly reported package? "popularity-contest" of course!
why 100% of users have it installed and are using it!

Why does no one care about Australia?
