  1. Re:Atmosphere? What atmosphere? on 'Death Star' Aimed at Earth · · Score: 1

Ummm.. Mars has an atmosphere. A very thin one, but it does have one.. A Gamma Ray burst doesn't necessarily happen during a nova/supernova. This is a binary system, and just the odd gravitational forces acting on both stars can cause a build up of energy that is released in a burst. This burst, if timed just right could pass through the earths orbital plane. If this were to happen, The radiation(Gamma) would kill much of the life on the planet. At the same time, the atmosphere would be severely damaged as well. Like the article says, the Ozone layer could be stripped off. If that happened, even more radiation(Ultra Violet) would make it through the atmosphere. This would kill even more life, including much of the plant life leaving a lot of dead decaying matter, and the significant heat increase that would occur would cause winds and other catastrophic weather anomalies. This would cloud the remaining atmosphere causing a very significant cool down.

the 2 posts before made alot of sense. And I can't help but agree with this one and those. Google is doing nothing wrong in their efforts. people that have teamed up with Telco giants like Yahoo and AOL are upset that a .net upstart like google is still as strong as they are. Google has built a larger database than Yahoo, MSN, AOL, and search.com combined, and people are scared because of the traffic. Customizable searches(customizable to your VERY location(and I mean very close to home)), and ease of use, are the reason I have wanted to(invest in google) throw my money back to them. It hasn't and prolly wont happen, but I want to. Google is awsome, and though, they will deny it, they have some awsome marketing guy/gals.. I hope for all the best out of google.. May their fortune continue.. They caught the boat that we all wanted to get on.. get over it, you flamin, whinin POS's

Seriously though, why in the hell would I want to goto that site? Going there and hitting F5 a couple of times would eat up .0000000000000001% of the bandwidth they take from the world anyways.. It's a useless effort(if that is what your were trying to do). Good luck in your efforts..

It's money. That's why they do it.. And they make alot of money doing it. Otherwise, it wouldn't be so popular.. Or am I being to simplistic? Is there some other, darker meaning?? I don't think so...

But light is effected by things such as gravity. It bends around planets, and other stellar objects. Light exhists as both a particle and a wave. I think that is how I read it several years ago. Light is however just a photon.

"# Light acts like particles--little light bullets--that stream from the source. This explains how shadows work.

    # Light also acts like waves--ripples in space--instead of bullets. This explains how rainbows work. In fact, light is both. This "wave-particle duality" is one of the most confusing--and wonderful--principles of physics. "

The Above was taken from a site that I think is built for the much younger crowd. You can take a look here : http://www.learner.org/teacherslab/science/light/
