    The proven existence of intelligent extraterrestrial life will have a profound effect on a lot of people's core religious beliefs. That alone will have a major effect on society and it might just turn a few people away from their outdated superstitious beliefs. I consider that a tangible benefit.

    You're right.
    Instead of having masses of God-fearing civilized people, we'll have masses of people whos' only fear is not achieving their goals or fulfilling their lustfull desires before they die.

    Not all JavaScript is intended to be executed in browsers. Server-side JavaScript was introduced a year after client-side JavaScript, and desktop scripting in JScript has been available in Windows for a decade as part of Windows Scripting Host.

    Not to mention applications like Adobe Fireworks, Flash, Photoshop, 7 a whole host of other applications utilize Javascript for extensions. Lookup "JSF" with Macromedia or Adobe context for more on that.
    Some Apple applications use both Applescript & Javascript too if I remember right.

    Unless he's got unknown associates, which with any white collar criminal worth their shirt is going to be the case.

    Old unknown associates are going to be leary about meeting with after getting caught to begin with, if he actually decided to obey the law and "do his time" he might as well forget about them.

    I know I started to take UPS for granted when I went a year or so working almost exclusively with laptops.
    One storm after that stint where I lost a whole days work snapped things right back into perspective for me though.
