Yes, but the question is why is Vista being blamed for this? This is the MPAA, movie studios, etc that have mandated it be this way. Either vista complies, or MS can't play the content at all...understand? It's going to be the same thing on your digital cable boxes soon, hell on some it already is, if you want the highest possible quality then the device you are outputting to MUST be HDCP capable. This is to ensure your not just dumping the output to a digital recorder....its all pointless but bottom line is its the way things are going to be because thats what the movie studios want it to be.
the movie studios and production companies and their BS copyrights have FORCED cable companies to impose more restrictive hardware and spend millions of thier own money to further "secure" their digital content so that its not easily copied.
To anyone who has studied Blizzards Warden program they would know that the users story is BS.
First off Warden does not run when the game is being run on a Linux environment.
Second, Warden has no capability to detect things like macro keyboards
Third, if a player is suspected of botting the GM is supposed to first move the player unexpectedly to see if it breaks the bots behavior, or if its really a person behind the keys, they then follow the movement with a message to the player a minute later. (They use to message the person first till bots were developed that auto answered)
This story is BS, the person most likely used some other cheat and is now trying to find an excuse to try and get his account back. It ain't happenin.
This sort of thing happens every day in every MMORPG? Are you kidding, or just lying to draw more attention to Eve Online (which in my opinion is bleh)
When was the last time Eve had people clamoring to one server to see an event that took tons of questing/mats to complete?
When was the last time Eve could say they had 5 million customers worldwide
Next reason you won't find eve mentioned is because more players overall like the fantasy genre vs the space genre.
So it doesn't matter how many awards Eve wins from mmorpg.com, the real winner is he with the most customers...and that is WoW
Note:I no longer play any MMORPG's so don't bother calling me a WoW fanboy, Up until now I had played pretty much every MMORPG released for atleast a month. Eve's problem is it does not draw the casual gamer in whatsoever in the first playing experience other then graphics wise, and the next problem is the game has no real way of proving your "better" then someone else. While some might find my following thought disgusting, I assure you it is true. ALOT of people play these games specifically to show they are "better" then someone else, or to show they have enough free time to farm, farm, farm
MMORPGS that brag (noone can ever truly be more powerful then someone else) are what I like to call MMORPG's without customers.
WoW runs on HP Superdome Infinities. Yes the architecture is scalable, but its not something that is quickly done so simply "upscaling" a single cluster for one event would be a HUGE waste of money/resources. It is better to just ban all the low level alts who are coming specifically to see the event because they don't want to wait to see it on their servers
Blizzard could not prepare for this earlier because Blizzard themself did not know who would be first server to complete the event and quite frankly after the first group of servers open the gates the "big deal" factor will be over and there won't be nearly as much hub bub on other servers about so and so opening the gates
