I have a friend like that too, what I don't get about that stance is this... Why don't you just use an RSS aggregator like Google Reader if you want to use RSS (which is what their live bookmarks are using)? Once you use an RSS aggregator, it's unlikely that you'll go back to their live bookmarks. They really don't offer much in comparison.

  4. Re:Anyone who is stupid enough to work with the RI on RIAA Accounting — How Labels Avoid Paying Musicians · · Score: 1

I think your view on iTunes is a bit off, iTunes doesn't have a ban on The Beetles, The Beetles aren't on iTunes because their music is so wrapped up in copyright and legal issues that they don't agree with Apple's terms. Copyright and legal issues that organizations like the RIAA are full supporters of. So just because someone has the resources to get your music out there, doesn't mean that it's a good deal for you.

  5. Re:DSL is no better on Comcast, Cox Slow BitTorrent Traffic All Day · · Score: 1

Currently I'm on Comcast and my speeds are 200~300KB/sec upload (I usually cap it at 200 so I don't choke the connection) and 400~450KB/sec download when torrenting... But when I'm not torrenting and downloading a file from a fat pipe I can reach upwards of 1100KB/sec download. Even on really nice torrents with thousands of seeds and no peers, I never get that speed from my torrents.
