I understand how Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo do not allow AO games on their consoles, or that stores such as EB et al do not sell these type of games either. But does this mean that the consoles are hard coded in some way that they check the rating for a game before it plays? Does this mean that I were somehow able to get a copy of the game (I'm pretty sure it was torrented a few weeks ago...) I could throw it into my console and play? I can't recall which is the game company and which the publisher, Take Two and Rockstar, but why can't the publisher sell the game directly minus the middle man?
So I guess my question is, why can't they get the AO rating and sell the game via the intarwebs (the credit card could also be a way of checking for age authentication) to those interested in owning the game sans being barred from playing it if the consoles are locked against those types of games?
Soon as I saw the announcements I ran to starcraft2.com and read everything as much as I could about the game. You're pretty limited at what you can see, and the only race with a wee bit of info are the Protoss. As someone who got the original the day it came out (best April Fool's day, evar!) I'm been a rabid fan for years. But looking at all the preliminary info I just get this feeling that it's SC1.5 instead of 2. Yeah it made the leap to 3D graphics (whoopty-doo) but there's still only the 3 races, no new Hybrid that I and bunches of others have been expecting.
I know this is still really early to make any calls on and looks like another fantastic, awesome Blizz game, just throwing my two cents in.
PS. Please Blizz, keep this as a strategy game and don't try a "RPS" or whatever WCIII is.

The beef that I have (I'm looking at you EA) is at the end of the Op's statement: Sometimes, you can't even press the Start button to skip them. Why God, can I not simply press a key to skip the scene?! Nothing infuriates me more than having to wait through a scene that I've seen repeatedly (oh, I died and have to continue this level for the 8th time but first must spend the three minutes watching teh same thing) and not doing what I bought the game for: playing.
Sure, I love cut-scenes and movies in games, they're a great way to convey a story. Games such as Resident Evil, Warcraft, and the Final Fantasy series all have beautiful scenes that I look forward to. But give me the option to not watch it when I want.
This is why I hate EA games. The inability to skip through the opening EA Logo splash screen, or when playing through a game numerous times and having to watch the same cutscenes over and over is such a pain in the butt. Sure, some I may want to watch additional times but for the love of everything holy, when I die on a level and need to attempt it again, don't make me watch the same opening video every f'ing time!
