I found this 12-Hours-Period system by mistake - when my gaurding-shifts schedule in the army kind of forced me to it. I found that I actually liked it and later tried it again.
The trial lasted for a few weeks and I don't really remember why I stopped, because I found it to be very nice.
It did not bother my social life because it let me stay awake at the 0-3 am hours which I spent socializing. and all the other wierd waking hours were used for work.

The benefit of a VM over compiling to native is that it enables cross-platform closed source.
