Its http://www.cato.org/about/about.html actually more of a libertarian group. And libertarians favor less goverment control (more so than republicans.)
not speaking of the BSD license... before you jump up and down about how great it is that big money is using open source technologies, keep in mind that the likes of r. stallman doesn't like integration of open source software with proprietary software. As you can see there is much restrictions in the latest GPL v3. in light, i ask you, what about v4, v5, v6, etc???
in time, we'll see less articles of this nature, because businesses won't want to worry about the legality of integrating their software with open source software, assuming os developers embrace these restrictive licesnses.
This is really a shame too, since many companies do contribute to popular open source software.
With the above, I think we'll see more of a divide of what peoples' beliefs on what TRUE open source software is, and isn't. a BSD vs GPL vX, if you will..
Well, this is NOT at all suprising. Americans are just about willing to give up their first born (pun) for security. One of my favorite political drivel is ".. for the children." For the children we have laws that raise property taxes and take away more individual freedom.
us constituation states "..people to be secure in their persons... " well... unless its "...for the children."
>>Just because hiring is on the rise doesn't mean the IT field is suddenly healthy again.
Then I'm assuming you arguing with:
" size of the IT employment market in the United States today is higher than it was at the height of the dot.com boom "
unless you don't think that the height of the dot.com boom was healthy.
why does the word 'extortion' come to mind?
man, many of you slashdotters believe everything you read. SpamDailyNews? wtf?
