While the 'MMO' feature of PSO pretty much failed, the game itself was amazingly addictive. I have very high hopes for PSU.
Though I suppose if you really looked at it, these games probably lean more towards fantasy than sci-fi anyway. At least it has guns, which invalidates that claim.
The best way for these sites to advertise lesser-known products is to adopt the recommendations format of Amazon. I have found a lot of things on Amazon through their recommendations that I wouldn't have known about otherwise.
Alternatively, they could use a program similar to Pandora.
Sounds to me like you are just a nostalgic gamer who has lost interest in modern games. This has nothing specifically to do with Nintendo or their controller; from your words it doesn't sound to me like you'd be any happier with any new console.
