Gashing your leg open and needing stitches is an emergency. You are more than capable of bringing a laptop on your way out. Sorry to break it to you, but the emergency room doesn't exist solely for gunshot victims and people who lost their limbs in tragic accidents, despite what you might see on TV.

The emergency room is also far from free in the United States. They might treat you up front, but you still owe them a severely exaggerated amount of money for the effort, which they aim to collect.

When I was in school, chemistry was not a requirement. It was an elective you could take.

To be honest, I don't see why it's a requirement either. It should certainly be available for those who wish to take it (I did), but forcing everyone to take it and pinning your ability to graduate on passing it just doesn't sound beneficial to everyone but those who will be aiming for jobs related to chemistry.

I think traditional schooling gives you a good well rounded education (or, it's supposed to, at least), but the higher level courses like chemistry, calculus, etc, should remain electives. You should be able to pick more fields you're interested in studying further to further prep yourself for college life. I don't know about having things like HTML courses specifically, but choice should definitely be offered more. Being able to cut the stuff you will never use (within reason) definitely sounds like a better solution than forcing it on everyone regardless of their future endeavors.

The message Westboro sends is certainly not the message Christianity as a whole is trying to spread. They're nothing but a black mark on the bigger picture.

No, we don't, but that doesn't mean we should just forego color altogether when there is a proven benefit to it because ~9% of others can't discern the same differences. I know you said you aren't trying to make the whole societal change argument; I merely am responding to the piece of text suggesting we don't need the extra hints.

It's not **me xyz, it would just be **xyz in that instance. No, it's really not hard to dial that.

The whole purpose aside from pure vanity is to ease situations where it is easier to give an alphanumeric name opposed to digits of numbers. Obviously there are going to be situations where this does not really help anything, but people can more easily digest this type of information than numbers. It's not as though it's replacing the old number system.

The whole concept of "vanity numbers" is not extremely easy to deal with anyway. Have you tried to get a number in the past 10 years? I know where I live, the free numbers that are available for the taking would rarely qualify for "vanity". You can't just demand a specific whole number (you can try, but the odds of getting it are zilch). Numbers and combinations of numbers are often reserved for different types of use such as commercial or residential.

There are many religions practiced in the United States. Attempting to push only one of them as the One True Answer and as such having it taught to all students is unacceptable and a good reason why things like evolution and the big bang theory should remain as a religion-independent theory. Theists must resist the urge to push their religion on other people, especially through the government.
