Dell, Quantex, Milwaukee PC and Sager all have at one point or another OEM'd their laptops (Dell insprion 5000 series) from Compal of taiwan. The only non-compatible piece between them is dell's power supply, which has it's own proprietary connector (go figure) I have the milwaukee PC Nomad 1500 and it's great. You can even order it with a magnesium case:) (www.compal.com.tw is the homepage)
When I was a kid, i spent 4 consecutive summers at Camp Watonka. It's not just a computer science camp, but a well-rounded and fun summer experience. It's in Hawley PA, and all the info on their programs is on their website. The only problem is that its all boys:(, which on the other hand might not be so bad for you goatse.cx fans,:-D
Only the theatrical release was shit. And you know, shit's worth some serious cash (fertilizer is a billion dollar industry)
some foor for thought, bitch B-)
Highlander II suffered the same fate. If you've ever seen the DVD, the director explains that the insurance company for the movie studio took over right before the final cut and changed the movie around horribly because they were over time and budget. The renegade version is a re-edit with a couple of new scenes, and IMHO it's TONS better than the unintelligable and bad theatrical release.
Speaking as a Jew (which I am) I was quite impressed with how high-tech Israel is when i visited last summer. However, what they REALLY need for a OS... Wait for it...
JEWNIX!:-D
(I couldnt resist, and it's not a troll. I'm Jewish)
The Onion isnt produced over the winter breaks of University of Wisconsin system schools, or during the summer. I go to the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. You guys dont know what you're missing if you dont get the Onion IN PRINT. That paper is something of an institution here. It's in those "free publication" racks all over campus that are usually dominated by "rental guide" or "auto seller". I dont care if this is OT, but its cool. The Onion returns NEXT week.
I feel the IOC is going too far on this one. The protection of broadcasting rights is in their best interest, and I feel they have every right to do it. But this sort of move constitutes horrible PR, first and foremost. Additionally, IANAL, but couldnt this "time shifting" of Olympic broadcasts be considered "fair use" if the origional content,(adverts and all) is not altered? Overall, however, the point I'm trying to make is that these "hard line" actions that the fearful IOC is making will only further cheapen the quality of the Olympics and alienate the audience. Just my $0.02:)
My question is, would AOL/Gateway/Transmeta/Whoever else is involved have any legal legs to stand on when (notice I say WHEN and not IF) these devices are hacked to work with other ISP's? AFAIK they are currently $599, which seems to me that they are for purchase. Could we have another I-Opener type "hot potato" on our hands here? IANAL, BTW.
Actually, the very reason that few people buy the Sony Vaio Music Clip is that it only plays ATRAC format music. You need to convert your open MP3's into the clunky, SDMI-compliant ATRAC to play them on your Vaio Music Clip. Dont know about the memory stick walkman, tho.
I just love how "Funny" comments get moderated higher than the "Insightful" ones, even with the same score. Really shows you where Slashdot's priorities are.
I just installed KDE 2.0 and I find that the browser integrated into Konqueror is FAR superior to Nutscrape 4.7, IMHO. Give it a shot. It's fast, standards compliant, and plugins work with it.
I'm also an ICANN member who hasnt voted yet, but I'd have to think that the corporate influences in ICANN have something to do with this "confusing" voting system. However, I may not vote at all because my PIN is nowhere to be found:(
Just what we need, a Sony companion to the AIBO. What's this one gonna be? the RIAABO? It'll have SDMI compliant sounds and only one person will be able to pet it or else you'll be in violation of the EULA, punishable by death (it's all in the DMCA, read the fine print!)
It's times like this that make me glad I'm studying to become a patent attorney. It'll make my job MUCH harder to get through all the challenges proposed in the new bill, but that means that whatever company chooses to pay me for my services will have to pay that much more:) I agree that there are many stupid patents being granted today in the IT world, that's why I'm sticking with Mechanical Engineering as my background in becoming a Patent attorney. So, within some time, i'll be able to say IAAPL (I Am A Patent Lawyer) in my Slashdot sig. Joy:)
You know, they have one of the unlaunched Mir space stations at Tommy Bartlett's Robot World in the Wisconsin Dells. I personally think that living in the Dells for such a long time would be more torture than living on Mir, tho. As a plus, this one has no funky fungus:)
Well, guys, my solution to the DoubleClit "people" (if they can call themselves that), is to relegate any and every ad server to localhost in my hosts file (sorry, i use win AND linux) and turn off permanent cookies, (except for slashdot:) ). Have fun, and happy browsing.
LMAO, If i only had mod points...

Funny! If i had mod points...
yes it does, at least on my machine
If only there was an option for "irony" in modding things up. This also falls under the "when in rome" category. :)

Might want to try this site, Moonlight 3D Corner. I personally know nothing about the program. I just think it has a cool name :)

It was meant to be a bad joke, buddy. It's my post.
What if the whole Martian surface gets covered with Mir moss? then we're screwed if earth gets it. The "backup planet" gets it too!

How about I designate /dev/null as my agent? and BTW - This should be a front page article.
