The insurance companies who are the leeches at the heart of our health care woes are still in the game under plans by both wings of the Republicrat party. The Republican wing wants tax incentives and the Democrat wing wants expanded dcoverage to the poor who are called "lower middle class".

A lot of folks see any mention of religion at all and automatically think "oh this must be a troll".
If a comment is modded down far enough, it won't be seen. If a funny or interesting comment is modded "troll" or "offtopic" there's a chance I'll miss a chuckle or worse, Ill miss being enlightened about something.
Then there's the karma thing. I'm not worried about mine, as it seems (so far knock on wood) to be impervious to anything; I get modded troll and offtopic all the time (sometimes they mod me offtopic and they're right, like this one should be) but someone whose karma is merely "good" could miss a chance to have that talk he wants with his fellow slashdotters.
But what rankles me is the ones who mod you down for seemingly no reason. They especially do it to ACs, thinking (I guess) that a negative mod won't hurt someone not logged in, but forgetting that you can check a little box to post AC.

If it's javascript, change it to a hypertext link. Only use javascript when it's absolutely positively necessary. Using javascript of (worse) flash is an admission of defeat.
2) horizontal scrolls are BAD mkay? They give your audience the impression that you are a fuckup. Since you're not a fuckup, stop it!
3) image based, content free; I got to the third page before giving up. I might have gone farther had my 1024x 768 screen resolution been high enough that I didn't need horizontal scroll bars.
If you're using sound (I don't know, I keep the speaker turned off when I'm in the internet) that's a bad idea too.
