There are plenty of AARP members who do this sort of thing every 12-18 months: 1) Computer slows to a crawl, pop-up ads are everywhere, computer becomes useless (to them). 2) Buy new computer. 3) Kids get the new computer hooked up. 4) Happy! Forwarding jokes, cute stories, and terror alerts! 5) Get infected. 6) Repeat.
I have a Cox DVR (made by Scientific Atlanta), and it works fabulously. I haven't had any of the problems you've encountered, and my wife and I have multiple programs always going. Highly recommended if you're in a Cox area.
Why it that the "party of limited government" (the Republicans) is also the party of most intrusive and least ethical government?
I think it's pretty hard to argue that the Republicans currently in power, especially Bush, are for limited government. The government has expanded far more under Bush than under Clinton. And this conservative, for one, doesn't like it at all.
