Hey, I've been using XARA for Pc for more than 9 years.
I consider to be better than illustrator and freehand, and I do graphics for a living.
I don't think in any way as a failure, they have been improving the product on all this years, and some features are still unique in the market.
As a designer, it still makes a lot of sense for me. Granted, nobody knows about it, but perhaps with this move they can capture another set of users without advertising it on any freaking magazine.
