I was messing around with building some pages for my phone to check my e-mail, and wanted to secure it against other viewers. Usually I do this based on IP, because my home and work computers are both static, but my cell phone doesn't have an IP. Instead, I did it by subscriber ID. In the Developer FAQ on Phone.com, they say it's impossible to determine what the clients phone # is, but the subscriber ID has it sitting right there!
IIRC, the HTTP header is HTTP_X_UP_SUBNO...check it out.
Okay, I'm a little freaked out. See, I just downloaded all of the GiS mp3s for my mp3 server here at work, and somehow I ended up with a geeks31.mp3. However, when I go back to thesync.com/geeks, I notice that the latest episode is #30, and I also have a geeks30.mp3. Can someone explain what's going on to me before my brain implodes?
I just noticed this but couldn't find a good place to post it, so this seems the most on-topic post to reply to. =)
Am I the only one to notice that www.slashdot.com is now going to Slashdot? Since when has this been happening? When I began coming here last fall it was still another, totally different site.
I purchased this cam recently and was very disappointed with it. I wanted to replace my Intel PC Camera Pro Pack, but the X10's image quality was much, much poorer. I even took the camera and put it three feet from the receiver (both antennas pointed at each other) and still got horizontal lines across the image and just generally horrible picture quality.
Basically, I'm not sure how well it would perform as a security camera, considering how poor my experience was. Anyone know if using it with the RCA connectors would improve it? I'm using the RCA-to-USB cable they provided.
I knew this was true, but realized it firsthand when I told people that name of my website. I have a subdomain on the site my sister and i own, so when i tell them it's (for example) "what dot ever dot com" they invariably say "it doesn't come up". And I ask them "what did you type?" and they respond "www dot what dot ever dot com". Hello????
We aren't talking about MicroAge......are we?

The RIAA said it would post a $5 million bond requested by the judge against any financial losses Napster could suffer from being shut down pending the trial.

Yeah, I was rejected when I filled out as-legit-as-possible information, but when I used my online alter-ego, I was accepted. =)

The Localhost.com spam lawsuit was very similar to this, and that was a few years back. Didn't this set a legal precedent (or something similar)?

That will barely make the defense stronger. You can't sell soda named Coca Cola and write on the can, "this is not real Coca Cola".
Are you sure? It's like having a fan site called LoveHewitt.com and stating that "this site is in no way associated with Jennifer Love Hewitt".

I say install perl on their win32 machines and teach them Perl for Win32. Then show them how to adapt it to *nix, and go from there.
It starts them in their native enviroment and moves them over once they're comfortable.
Good luck!

My sincere apologies to Mr. D. =)
