  1. Not possible. on Google Sets Censorship Precedent In India · · Score: 1

I hardly doubt it that if someone posted such stuff on the Internet, it could start riots. I have never seen anything like this happen (at least in India), but then I live in a peaceful state. By far, the people who engage in such riots are illiterate to the core and don't bother about what is posted on the Internet. The politicians spread more hatred than these online groups can. Behind all such decisions of censorship are the politicians who want votes. If they publicly come out against any such group, their vote banks are favored.

  2. The problem with Facebook. on Facebook Violates Canadian Privacy Law · · Score: 1

My only problem with Facebook is that why they can't allow a complete account removal. They just disable the accounts. With a simple log in, the account is re - enabled.

I joined Facebook on the insistence of my friends. However, I no longer feel it useful, they are too many cluttered apps (which I can't tolerate) and other stuff which make it simply unusable. I tried to delete my account, it doesn't work. I emailed Facebook support, they said you have to delete every post, every friend, every link you created manually. I have 250 friends. How am I supposed to manually delete all data?

This sucks. Why are they so insistent with disabling accounts and not allowing users to completely delete them? I feel this is a clear violation of my privacy. I don't like something, it should be deleted. At least users should have this much right.

  3. We needed this ... on India To Issue Over a Billion Biometric ID Cards · · Score: 5, Interesting

very badly. Considering there are different cards for almost everything in which you need an identification check, this was long required. I have card A for casting my vote, B for getting my LPG supply for cooking, C for getting subsidized food. If I lose any one of them, I have to go through the entire process again which involves around four to five working days and bribing corrupt government officials who are not ready to work. For getting a thing as simple as cellphone connection, I have to submit at least 3 identification documents - my voter card, my driving license and a college confirmation letter (in case you are a student). This has been done to check the use of mobile phones by terrorists, but since there is no standardized identification, it hurts the common man who just needs to get his work done. We are all looking forward to this. Lets just hope it gets through.

  9. Useless Hypocrisy on Indian Nationalists Forcibly Censor Orkut · · Score: 2, Informative

The reason Orkut is targeted is cause of the popularity. Orkut is like the MySpace of India and people get internet at their homes so that they can access Orkut - so much is the popularity. Shiv Sena and RSS are stupid political parties who have not done anything for the people of India except dividing them on communal lines. If they are so concerned about the people of India, they should stop popularizing their communal agenda and actually start doing something for the people. So what if the communities exist? How does it matter? Is it posing a threat to the country? No. Sentiments are something else agreed, but just cause of one or two things, that doesn't mean they shut the whole thing down. Same was the case with a website by the name of Hindu Unity. It is now banned in India cause it had anti - Islamic content severe in nature. When it was banned, the Shiv Sena and RSS were protesting cause they said censoring was violating the rights of the people. How about it now?
