Not to defend them, but I'll bet they tried to resolve this. When Win95 first came out, it was no different than Win 3.x regarding changing video settings. Make a change, you have to reboot. Shortly after Win95 came out, you could get their PowerToys package which included a little utility called QuickRes. This allowed you to change color settings and resolution on the fly. Win95 OSR2 included this ability without needing QuickRes and it remains in Win98 SE.

My guess is if they *could* change from Large Fonts to Small Fonts without rebooting, they would have included it with this functionality. Who knows why you can't !

Not necessarily, the VBScript portion that was bad for the local user was the part of it that deleted files. The Outlook part was only used to forward these message on to other people. As for that part, I've been told that *any* MAPI-compliant program would do the same, not just Outlook. I've got to wonder about that though, as even Outlook Express wasn't affected. Then again, maybe it's not MAPI-compliant.

Again, this, I believe is set by international law, not some "American" law. If it's flying a British flag, for example, in international waters, they cannot board it.

Running it through a virus scanner will often do do no good. Today, if someone sends me the "ILOVEYOU" *worm* and I try and double-click it to run, McAfee will pop-up and warn me. Why ?? Because 6-8 hours after "ILOVEYOU" caused all the reported damage, they had an update.

Their software, contrary to what they claim, won't catch new virii/worms until they know about them. I'm referring to their "heuristic" whatever logic !! They claim it catches what appear to be virii/worms.
