A written order will do nothing for you. If you break the law, it's your responsibility.

Just say no. Escalate to your company legal team, and require them to confirm in writing that the proposed action is legal. Even then, consider whether you really want to be explaining this to a jury.

    You're a sexist shit then.

I support equal pay for people doing the same job. That means paying female software engineers the same as equally contributing and equivalently skilled male ones.

I also don't support paying male teachers more, although I do support paying male nurses more - they end up doing a harder job than the female ones due to the strength related tasks being given to them.

Welcome to the insidious stupidity of licensing. You've clearly licensed the work for the iPad and not for the Kindle. That's a separate licence.

The problem here isn't copyright or fair use or public domain or the (lack of) right to make a copy. The problem is the copyright holders not holding up their end of the copyright bargain.

The problem is the current copyright regime. The copyright holders are complying with the law, which is all they're expected to do.

Well, I sure as fuck wont send them to sexist Stanford or racist Harvard. I'll let them choose where to go, and support them in that choice - but the US don't have anything Oxbridge needs to be ashamed of anyway.

  9. Tarantino films universally lack any form of intelligence.

They heavily draw on existing material but there's clearly value add and his early work was put together very intelligently, even if the films themselves were very accessible.

I spent 2 hours wondering where the plot was... if there was a plot etc...

    Interesting. Which film was it?

See I generally don't recognize him except as "That guy who is always in some shitty movie" so I didn't think to just turn it off.

Wait? You think of Tarantino as an actor in shitty films but also think Tarantino films lack intelligence?

It seems you're suggesting that you class a film as a Tarantino film if he's acting in it, unlike the rest of the planet who would generally prioritise the films he's written and/or directed. He does sometimes act in those too but..

rather than see Tarantino take his "I would have written porn parodies but then I wouldn't get to press up against Travolta" writing and directing butchery

Oh, I see. You just don't have a fucking clue. Where the fuck is the porn (parody or otherwise) in Reservoir Dogs, True Romance or Hateful Eight?

Constant water temperature for 40mm of water isn't exactly fucking rocket science. Although my machine will provide constant water temperature for a lungo, which is what I generally drink.

the nicer machines sure as hell don't have a heatpump

No, they have a thermoblock (like my machine), a heat exchanger or dual boilers.

When you're making two coffees a day a thermoblock is actually the better choice. It's more energy efficient, perfectly capable of producing consistent temperatures and doesn't take half a fucking hour to heat up.

It also means I don't have to pay $6000 for a coffee machine that wont fit into my kitchen just to get dual boilers.

I am starting to see what kind of establishments you frequent (or rather don't frequent).

Well, I could hunt down gourmet coffee venues in England but the two hours to drive to the nearest one means my coffee's going to be pretty fucking cold by the time I get home.

Let me guess, it's better than Starbucks so that makes it awesome espresso?

It's not hard to make black coffee (of any form) that's nicer than Starbucks. But I've posted elsewhere here that I do like Starbucks lattes. I'm not a fucking snob, I don't need coffee hand picked by virgins, roasted by warrior monks and brewed by a barista wearing a tutu and a bushy beard. If it tastes nice, I'm happy.

Clearly you fit into that 0.03% of coffee drinkers that can even fucking tell the difference between a good filter coffee and that bearded virgin monk gourmet shit. I can't.
