If you have a Samsung DVD Player they are working on making a special upgrade chip that they say will fix the problem and that they will upgrade their dvd players for free! I do have a Samsung;-(....and needless to say...after returning the DVD twice...i called samsung. I was the first person at Best Buy that day to get it...when i went back...they had sold all 120 copies (in about 4 hours). I had to go to another store...on to find out that DVD didnt work either...bummer...o well..guess ill have to wait for the chip to come out.
I have to admit I enjoy not being socially normal. It gives me a sense of being special;-). But the issue here is that the "normal" are looking at us and saying that alot of us have this kind of mental problem...or that kind of mental problem. Why? The answer is simple. We are different. I look at society today and gasp at its barbaric and childish nature. The nature of science is that of labeling. Everything has to be identified and labeled and here is an instance where the "normal" have taken a look at us, who are now looked upon to keep bringing better technology to society, and decided that because we are different that there must be something wrong with us. I personally don't thing that I am better then anyone else, but I do believe that there are certain people who will look at me and suggest that because I am different that I must have some kind of mental problem (do you really have to have a mental problem when you excel at complicated and technologically advanced things?). Just my 2 cents.
There are a couple ways to look at this. To the non-geek, the Internet is a place where you don't have a face or even an identity, you can make your own. You can be whatever you want in this (Internet) world. So, by revealing IP's (if they are static, if it is dynamic...does it really matter?) this causes an identity problem for those who don't want to be revealed. Again, this is the non-geek view. To us geeks, we know that this is not true, depending on what you are refering to. In this case, if you enter a chat room (irc or whatever) you know that you IP is being logged somewhere and could be used to trace you, therefor, you know that you can only hide your identity from the non-geek. The fact is, no matter what, if I, for example, really wanted to know your IP, I could find it. If you don't like the thought of your IP being known, there is one solution and that is unplug your internet connection and work unplugged.
