My academic training was in computer science, and I work as a computer scientist. But these days I'm somewhat ashamed to publicly use the term "scientist", after how people calling themselves "climate scientists" have brought politics into science, thus ruining science's reputation.

I hate to break this to you, bro, but actual scientists are also a little bit ashamed when you call yourself a "scientist" with your associate's degree in CS from DeVry.

While scientists may not realize what's going on, or may not want to admit it, the reality is that average people do see and understand what has happened.

You could take everything "average people" know and understand about science and fit it in a Fox & Friends chyron. Don't believe me? When you're on the bus going to the call center tomorrow morning, ask them the difference between "average" and "mean" and see what the average answers are. If we're going to start using "average people's" knowing and understanding as any kind of metric in science, we might as well just give up as a species and elect a reality TV host as president.

    Why do you think that?

We've been getting threats from the Kim family forever. That's what they do. It's all internal politics to get North Koreans to forget about how shitty their lives are. In the same manner, Trump has always made threats, from lawsuits against people who don't like him to "fire and fury" against North Korea today. It's what he does. And in the same manner, it's to get people to forget how shitty he is.

Russia has literally thousands of ICBMs pointed at US targets, but anyone who points out their behavior, whether in Ukraine or in messing with US elections via propaganda. is painted as someone who has succumbed to the "Red Scare". Yet we have Kim, who we are told could someday have an ICBM pointed at Alaska and those same people will try to tell you he is an existential threat to the United States. Not long ago, Iran was the existential threat. Or China was the existential threat. Or refugees. Or Mexicans coming to pick vegetables. Or gay people getting married. Or transsexuals. Or college students. Or Obama coming to take yer guns away.

And all of it is theater to get people to forget shitty lives and/or shitty leaders.

Do you actually think that Donald Trump is a more dangerous leader than Kim Jong-un?

I actually think that Donald Trump is more dangerous to America than Kim Jong-un. Yes, absolutely. Kim Jong-un is probably more dangerous to South Korea, and Japan and to North Korea, but Donald J. Trump presents a far greater danger to the well-being of the United States of America than Kim Jong-un does. So is he a "more dangerous leader"? I don't know how to measure that. The answer depends in great deal on where you happen to be, geographically.

Kim Jong-un isn't gonna do shit to the US.

  7. You set up snipers in strategic locations across town to cover every and all traffic sign; and you shoot the fucker who dares get even close to it.

Here in Texas, they just shoot the traffic sign and skip the middleman. Because freedom has to be irrigated by the blood of patriotic drivers in self-driving cars. Or something. I don't remember the exact quote, but it's in the Second Amendment or the Bible, I'm pretty sure.

Yes, I'm pretty sure that men are better suited to be software "engineers" because they have dicks. Personally, I am also uncomfortable with women driving cars, because they lack this handy appendage.

I often use my dick when driving for hitting the turn signal, changing the radio station, etc. I have no doubt that there are many ways having a dick can aid a software "engineer", but I can't give you any examples because being a software engineer is a menial job in which I have no interest.

Oh, and this is a photograph of James Damore, the hypermasculine and very well-suited for being a software "engineer" former Google employee who totally thinks men are better suited to being software "engineers". (note: in the photo, he is standing between two normal-sized men who are probably not software "engineers" and who almost certainly have both used James Damore like a woman.)

As to the shift in engineering demographics, perhaps it's not men and women that have changed in the past 40 years but rather the nature of the job.

This claim is worth examining. Please give us some examples of how the "nature of the job" of engineering has changed in the past 40 years to make it less attractive to women.

  15. This is James Damore, the fired Google software engineer ubermensch who thinks the biological differences between men and women should matter in the Google workplace: Here is a photo of James Damore who believes that men are more biologically suited to work as software engineers. Go ahead, look at him.

    https://heavyeditorial.files.w...

James Damore has four years experience writing code. He took the time to write a 10-page manifesto on gender differences and distribute it using company resources instead of, you know, doing work. He got his ass fired and now he is a hero to other whiny ass manbabies.

Again, in case you missed it, here is a photo of James Damore, who is big on "biological differences".

    https://heavyeditorial.files.w...

  16. Women are physically weaker than men.

Have you seen a photograph of James Damore, the former Google employee who wrote a ten page document about diversity without a single reference? Here, let me help you. Here is a photograph of James Damore.

    https://heavyeditorial.files.w...

Now I don't know if you meant to imply that physical strength is required to be a software engineer. I don't know if you've ever met a software engineer. But James Damore looks like he could get his ass kicked by a 12 year old girl scout with asthma. And by the way, James Damore, software engineer ubermensch, has exactly four years' experience writing code. Maybe he should have channeled some of the energy and outrage that he used on his 10-page manifesto (without a single reference, did I mention?) into actually spending some time becoming a software engineer and growing some hair on his balls.

We can start with a similar field and try to figure out why boys play video games significantly more than girls.

Boys do not play video games significantly more than girls. About the same percentage of boys and girls play video games (nearly all, by the way). But boys play video games more often and for longer, because (my theory) they are less inquisitive and more likely to put in 8 hour sessions of Tekken.

And "playing video games" is not a "similar field" to being a software engineer. The first is repetitive and non-creative, and the second requires some modicum of problem solving. If you've logged 400-plus hours into COD4 Modern Warfare, you are no longer problem solving, you're banging a lever that gives you a cookie.
