    Would that would be the same Lansing, Michigan where there hasn't even been a Republican CANDIDATE for mayor for the last twenty years or so, because only Democrats have any chance of getting elected? Yet another example of the great success that is Democrat rule?

    I notice you failed to mention that Lordstown, Ohio has a Trump-supporting, Republican city council, a Republican congressman, a Republican senator and a Republican governor. Oh yeah, and Ohio is a "Right to Work" state.

    And their plant is moving to Mexico, too. I notice you failed to mention that.

    Sure. But is it better to have a president that is a bald-faced liar, or one that tells more subtle lies that people believe?

    That's more complicated than it might seem. Would you rather have a president who doesn't care whether or not you believe his lies or one who cares enough to try to lie? At least in the latter, there's a certain amount of self-awareness.

    If you ask people in countries like Iraq or the former Yugoslavia, they can tell you what it's like to live under the former.

    No. Republicans didn't wait for Obama to be sworn in to start blaming him for the recession.

    Protectionism has mostly "worked" in Japan, at least in terms of jobs.

    But the only investment they can get is from their own central bank. They're on a tremendous bubble and their monetary policy makes the Fed look downright sensible.

    Since right about the time Democrats seized total control of Detroit. When you're arguing that Democrat policies work, the normal strategy is to pretend Detroit doesn't exist.

    Just so you know, GM is moving it's plants from Lansing, Michigan and Lordstown, Ohio.

    Detroit has nothing to do with it.

    In fact, Ford, Chrysler and GM started moving production out of Detroit in the period from 1945 to 1957.

    the money employers save on labor costs is usually shared with employees in the form of larger paychecks.

    I didn't say they would. I said your paycheck will get smaller.

    "Lower labor costs" doesn't just apply to entry level positions.

    No, I just think the tidal wave insults should stop.

    I'm with you on this. We have to still get up, go to work, support what we support and oppose what we oppose. Raise our families the best way we know how. We had eight years of bitterness from a certain segment of Americans who refused to work with Obama because of the color of his skin. They were out to destroy him before he was even sworn in, and admitted as much. Trump deserves to be evaluated on what he does. He's got a GOP House and Senate and all the tools he needs. Let's see what he does.

    This is a forum of information and insight.

    It might also be possible with less regulation, lower labor costs, and lower corporate taxes.

    Just so you know, "lower labor costs" means your paycheck gets smaller, too.

    Too be honest, I'm still pretty hopeful. You never know. Donald Trump wouldn't be the first shallow man who had to grow up and find strength when faced with a daunting situation. Economy, debt, foreign policy, domestic issues, getting the cost of health care down. It'll be interesting to see how an all-GOP government with Trump at the helm will fare against these challenges. I hope he rises to the occasion. It's all on him now.

    And if he doesn't, it will be fun being the opposition for the next four years. Opposition suits me, to be honest.

    Either way, it's going to be interesting.

    For the average person some warning would be helpful, not just on political stories but on stuff like anti-vaccination sites and religious cults.

    My only concern is that this fact-checking will not extend to the claims of Google advertisers. Can you imagine the crying if it did? "No, this smartphone will not give you 14 hours of battery-time" or "It's not really waterproof"? We might actually get the chance to see if a free market could really work.

    From TFA: "After fake stories made the rounds on Facebook during the US Presidential elections 2016, Barack Obama blamed the social media giant for spreading lies about the election season." So, blamed Facebook for spreading lies, but didn't say Facebook spread anything?

    That's what the story says. If you read the actual quote from the president, he does not blame Facebook for anything.

    I think you are making Obama's argument for him. You are more willing to believe what somebody says Obama said, more than you are willing to actually read the quote of what he said. In this case, you can even go to the video and listen directly to what he said, but you're more prepared to accept second-hand information.

    There's some evidence that because illegal aliens are much harder to track that the crimes they commit are underreported and they are not properly prosecuted for their crimes. That's undeniable.

    Could you explain how the immigration status of a perpetrator could figure in to the crime statistics reported by police? Crime stats are not based on prosecutions, they are based on crimes reported to police. If a crime is committed and the perpetrator is not caught, it still figures in the statistics.

    The only possible way it could happen is if crimes where illegals immigrants are the victim are not reported because they are afraid of talking to authorities, but I don't think that's what you mean.

    How does Facebook spread anything? The stories are done by Facebook subscribers, and are accepted by those who follow them.

    He didn't say Facebook spread anything. He said, "Some people believe whatever they see on Facebook."
