Gareth Branwyn's Street Tech site has reviews of a few of the programmable remotes. No rip-n-read press release fluff, but real, "I used this and here's what's good and here's what's bad about it" kinds of reviews. Most of the ultra-programmable remotes are indeed rather expensive, but I know I've probably spent that much on just random remotes looking for just one that'll let me program my VCR again.
There were 4 other people in the theater when I went to see it last night. Too bad.
I loved the "Q virus" story, and the "Trek Pull". The barbecue where the guy was bragging that last year, "a girl even showed up" - had me laughing til my stomach hurt. I felt so sorry for the dentist's kids, too - there was one very brief shot of his daughter rolling her eyes that was just too awesome.
As far as people with assorted metal in their bodies, they already set off metal detectors and are inconvenienced.
I don't know what you're talking about. I've got my wanger pierced twice, and I've been through plenty airport metal detectors without setting them off. And that's with some pretty heavy jewelry in place.
I think they are trying to shut down phony auctions quicker. It's perfectly within their rights to do so, in my opinion. Can you imagine what kind of trouble they'd get in if somebody actually WAS able to buy a classroom full of japanese schoolchildren?
However, I think this auction was legit, and creative. It should have stayed. I know I'd like to see how much they actually went for.
The reason I 'cling' to my vinyl is because you can't find lots of the music I have on vinyl in CD format, not because I'm not happy with CDs. Believe me, I've tried, and moving stuff from vinyl to CD isn't an easy task, it's a pain in the ass and there's no way I'm converting all 4000 LPs.
MP3 could easily be replaced by an improved format because digital-to-digital conversion is easy enough to be painless.
Although Caldwell is a wasteland, I can't say Boise is. We have good skiing only 45 minutes away, and great skiing 2.5 hours away. Whitewater rafting is also 45 minutes close, and I can sit naked in at least a dozen natural hot springs within an hours' drive. 5 minutes from downtown I can't see downtown because I'm in a nature preserve. There's an active underground music scene. I can walk up to Dug Martsch from Built to Spill and have him say Hi to me because we went to high school together. A river runs through the center of town that's still safe to swim, tube, fish in. I work in a web design company with giant clients, and I haven't had to leave any of my friends. The horizon isn't 200 miles away. I can still find used Moog equipment in thrift stores. I had an option to move to Chicago (still do), and I wouldn't go there for the world. I can't trust a place where I don't have to look up to see the horizon.

The bug fixes will be free, in the form of SP1, downloadable from the MS site. In addition to that, there will be multiple versions of the newer Win98 (with new features), including a nominally-priced upgrade for people who paid the full retail price already for W98. The $89 price willl be for a new full retail install, it looks like.
I'm no lackey, but it doesn't look as bad as it looks.
Hey, she's not that bad. I like her, personally, but then I also think Fran Drescher is hot too. And Chasing Amy is an amazing movie, even if you don't like the girl's voice.

Raul's design is so far and above the others, it's not even a contest.

Has anybody found a URL for the company that makes these machines?
How much does one cost?
How can I get one?
