I would like to point out that Linus is against forking the kernel, and his group essentially demands a unified kernel and toolchain (with different distros having different configurations of these pieces).

Torvalds's copy isn't deployed by most people. Red Hat does its own fork (or patchset), as does Ubuntu. TiVo certainly keeps its own copy. Andrew Morton has gone on record saying that a competing fork would be impractical, but I haven't seen anyone "against" such a thing.
If someone really wants to create a dependent sound system, I'm sure Mark Shuttleworth would like to hear from you if you can make the experience better.
Frankly, for most people, they can just use Ubuntu and forget about every other distribution on the desktop.
I think everyone can taste sucralose and aspartame, it's just that you develop a tolerance to it. Honestly, it can't be much worse than high fructose corn syrup.
I try to avoid it, but sometimes it's the only palatable caffeine delivery system around.
America's farm policy is ass-backwards. The heavily subsidized grains push out the fruits and vegetables from the market, pushing the price up and/or forcing us to import them from outer Elbonia.
Photoshop is best to stay with, but show them GIMP as well and allow them to use either. Tell them it can be scripted with Python and a few will try and figure it out.
Flash 5 is probably worth a shall segment, but it has changed dramatically and there's no practical reason to teach it.
Dreamweaver is also worth a small segment, but why not teach them HTML + CSS? It's really not that hard. Make it easier and have them design for Firefox and go into the quirks of both at the end. Frankly, WYSIWYG editors aren't used that much in professional circles except for intranet sites from everything I've seen.
It's okay as a boss to say, "I'm not a big fan of this idea, but we'll make it work." but don't complain about the superior. All it will do is reduce morale of the employees.
You have a definite performance hit. However, depending on your machine it might not be such a big deal for those uses you have.
On my home machine, I've run linux and oracle application server inside of windows. It slowed down at pieces, but really wasn't that bad.
On my work machine, I run windows and Lotus Notes inside my Linux machine and don't even notice the extra OS. We'll see how that holds up as I put SQL Server on there.
Oh, but turn off the screensaver. The graphical subsystem is hit hardest by virtualization.
We've had psuedonomyous communication on the net and BBSes for years. It sounds like a reporter just found out that people don't always use their real names on the internet.
Consider that many people wouldn't hire me because I am a gay man. Some parents would have kicked me out of the house for being gay, or would have made my life a living hell at the very least. For writing posts about my deconversion before I had made my announcement to the world, I might have caused problems for friends who I mentioned were going through the same thing.
Because of the psuedononymous nature of the Internet, all of these things are possible. I've counseled gay men who were married. These individuals would not have had the courage to talk if they thought they could be discovered.
If it were just opinions, that's not such a big deal.
Rambus is also claiming that these same manufacturers, who were also creating RDRAM, were artificially limiting supply as to create demand and raise prices. So these same players are simultaneously raising prices on one product they produce while lowering prices on another.
RDRAM could have been within 10-15% of SDRAM on terms of costs.
That said, I see this as a mistake on the business and PR side, not one of the technical side. At some point, Rambus has to look at itself in the mirror and figure out what it needs to keep goodwill with its eventual suppliers and customers, and what they're doing now isn't working.
This is evidenced by the negative perception of Rambus in the IT community.
I, like you, missed the entire point of myspace for a few months.
I still don't like it, but I understand it now. It's much like hanging out in a trendy nightclub. At home, I can make the drinks better, I have better taste in decor (what, dragons on the walls isn't better?), and I have full control of my castle.
But the nightclub is where all the people are!
It's a way to connect with all of your friends, with a common identification system. Yes, it's ugly as fuck, but that's not the point.

At least Google has the decency to demote these pinko commies to second place, but what would you expect from China?
For that matter, we've started using Subversion and TortoiseSVN for documents on the business side of our company. After all, many times the back and forth email can be better served by versioning.
That said, it's been a bit of a learning curve for them, and they already have suffered that for email, so it takes some time.
at least tell us what the programs are FOR on your website! Your introduction states:
"...was formed aiming to create products of tangible quality for its Clients and together with them. The company makes use of its diverse yet highly qualified technical personnel and a well-structured development method, which can be adapted contextually."
It says NOTHING of this product you speak of! I noticed some of the names in your News page, but I still couldn't figure out what the programs themselves did!
It was easier to find out that you use extreme programming.
Finally found out through googling - on Freshmeat.net, of all places, that one of the products was a C++ web framework. The other two that are supposed to be released, I can't even google for more information!
Honestly, I'd suggest finding people who are willing to pay you for usign these products, and get your word of mouth out from the other side. However, while you're at it, at least put the code on your web page!

It's not like the olympics are over... and you can still pick up most of the events. (I just finally watched Phelps's 8th gold medal.)

Depends... Did this man serve on the board of Walmart, did this man vote for funding the war in Iraq (and never apologize for it?) Did this man shred thousands of documents related to a potential scandal? ( http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9D06E6D7163DF93AA35750C0A962958260 )
How does this man compare on civil liberties actions? The other candidate - http://blog.wired.com/27bstroke6/2008/01/clinton-slams-o.html - looks pretty good. She's never said she opposes widespread wiretapping, unlike the SAFE act (which Obama was vocal for.) http://w2.eff.org/patriot/safe_act_analysis.php for details.
I cannot support Clinton from a policy perspective when we have someone more in line with ideals concerning civil liberties.

For what I can tell, this is just for preorder. I'll bet dollars to donuts that the CD will be available by itself eventually, and probably soon.
So, get the MP3s for now and pick up the CD when they release it by itself.
That still has to go out to analog, though. Yes, that means we're looking at digital->analog->digital, but you can still record it.
I am not a hardware hacker, so I was wondering what cards would benefit from this first release.
Try ATI Mobility chipsets.
Laptops and X have been notoriously finicky for me.
That holds double about people.

No, but I'd pay $249 for a picture and one of those Wiis.
Let her deal with their technical support instead.
It's not worth your aggrivation. I stopped building computers for others long ago. They can take responsibility in their own hands.
It is emulation.

Consider anon.penet.fi for a simple example.

In other words, the better the kitchen, the more reliable the dishes will be, and the faster the cooks will be.
The correct term in fashion is "vintage." A synonym might be "retro."
This redesign, then, would make you fashionable. In a vintage, retro way that is.

Ummmm....
You mean, like ibiblio?
You know, what maven hosts?
That is an adknowledged issue. Oracle is a bit persnickety when it comes to database versions.
That's what CentOS is for - to emulate RHEL. The guides are great for that.
That said, Oracle made the install for XP incredibly easy, and there's no shame in using that either.
