i am a developer. leave aside the many measures google have taken to empower INDIVIDUALS, like enabling individual websites with adsense system and giving them the power to generate revenue whereas all of the big boys were treating small publishers as shit, google by itself provided many useful tools to aid us developers in the act of development. its so much that some of their accessories are invaluable additions to the dev environments and software we use now.
i think you confused them with another company, which treated everyone but the big buck like shit, for over 20 years.
this kind of memo by a vp, talking about 'open' like this. i think this is a serious indicator. totally in contrast to the behavior we see from other companies. i appreciate this.
the comment of the poster is hilarious btw - google values openness will google open its search engine. if google did that, it would lose all the power it can use to enforce the openness, and 'closed' would prevail, through the efforts of stranglehold corporations opposing them. no, opposing 'us', for i am on the same side with google apparently, from what i understand from that vp's memo.
regardless of how much one wants to be open, one should always employ wisdom.
another game with party of 4, consisting of tank, healer, cc and dps. isnt it the same shit every fscking game, and each of them resemble the other after you played 10 of those games already. where is fun in that. would people watch football matches if every other game resembled the other in this detail.
lets mix jedi into the next dragon age game. and also put superman in it. and while we are at it, we should put gandalf in star wars. after all, 'realism' is not needed in fantasy games, right ? its fantasy, so each one of them can be stupidly hilarious delusions from hell.
there is realism in every game. EVERY game, fantasy or not, has to be realistic IN ITS OWN WORLD. thats why you dont have jedi in wow, and you dont have sauron in star wars.
each world is a reality set in itself. they have to be consistent. some things stay similar in every world. after all, in each goddamn world your avatar has a body, and uses tools doesnt it.
oh boy. so we redefine ice age now ? anything is possible when you start redefining concepts. and 120 meter in 1-2 century after a 'real' ice age is nothing compared to an accelerating rate of rise, when you are NOT in an 'ice age'.
the crappiest, sleaziest thing denialists do, is to redefine concepts. quit it.
c and c++ are both lower level languages than php, closer to the assembly level. c and c++ can be used to code the compiler that php runs on. php is a CUSTOM language for creating web applications. c, or c++, or anything of their level cant come close to it. because, php was PURPOSE BUILT.
of course hundreds and hundreds of them are going to die. though, not to a 'handful' of machine gun nests. dont judge d day with the movies you have seen, for for a movie you cant rebuild the entire atlantic wall. it would be too expensive.
you are landing thousands of soldiers into narrow beaches. of course hundreds were going to die. you need to compare the scale.
And I see it as less roll playing. You aren't playing the roll, you are playing yourself in a scripted roll. You aren't playing a serf, but instead playing it as if you were transported there from the future, not a serf, but a future gamer who swapped places with a pikeman. That's not roll playing, but that's what happens when you leave it open to "story" based RPG. When it's key-mashing RPG, then you play a tank, and you are a tank, and that's all there is to that. So the horrible key-mashing no-thinking tank is more accurately played than the pikeman will be by 90% of the people (and the 10% that might try to play him right will leave the game because of the 90% annoying them).
it seems that fantasy rpgs are way too etched in your mind, so that you have apparently come to take frps as rpg itself. they arent.
regardless of what kind of RPG are you playing, you are still a gamer playing a RPG in front of the computer. this doesnt change.
I've fought against people proficient in "dual wielding" and I have to say in my experience it does provide a significant advantage in situations where you'll be fighting multiple opponents and/or with little to no armor. No, it's not the type of style you'd use against a knight in full plate, but such heavily armored opponents only represent a very small sample of the type of warriors that existed throughout history.
the 'heavy armored knight' you speak of, which supposedly existed in a 'small sample', was the defining factor of medieval battles.
you may be erring by thinking that only early 15th century full plate armor is 'heavy armor'. it is not the case. in every period there has been a 'heavy armor' classification in comparison to the weapons that were used in warfare. in 1066 it was heavy chain mail, and broadswords were used against it, in high middle ages it was plate on chainmail and elaborate maces and warhammers were used to pierce it, in early 15th century it evolved to full plate armor, and exquisite halberds, and increasingly, firearms were used to pierce it. longbows and crossbows were rather exceptions, for they were able to pierce any armor at any given time, and in venetian republic it was mandatory that every single male in a venetian ship should know how to operate a crossbow, and own one.
japanese warfare prior to 19th century was way too immersed in forms and styles. its doubtful that they could hold their own in a real battle against a medieval army employing the brutal, inhumane and dishonorable warfare methods of european middle ages.
as with ALL things invented by humans and which can be used to create other stuff, php has grown over the 'homepage tools' it was initially created to be. now not only it has a huge set of functions inside it to create full fledged applications, but through server modules it can also acquire an immense sea of functionality that can be used to perform innumerable other tasks. it is pretty much at the point where it can take over some desktop applications too, with the right server setup and modules - with some scripts and the proper modules you can even do a fair amount word processing in any web front app. to the extent of being able to do drag&drop editing/drawing and pdf creation and so on. of course not quite as efficient as a native desktop program, however, regardless, you can.
just check php functions in php.net, and check some modules apache can use to supplement php. there is QUITE a lot.
developing web applications in c is not exactly a walk in the park. neither c was designed to build web applications, or maintain them. whereas you can easily go through php code to develop new functions and improve new and existing functions efficiency speedily and economically, it wont be the sam with c. what about those costs ?
looking at the instantaneous state of the server/php/performance situation is as stupid as just looking at the instantaneous state of a mass production factory and declaring that certain assembly lines are not efficient or green. there are a lot many factors and costs to count into in the bigger picture.
a half assed approach, which, somehow, brings the word 'green' into the mix - maybe to garner some attention, since it is the issue these days.
you made conclusions out of your ass, and some morons modded you insightful.
show me ANYthing in what i said from which you can create a correlation in between the number of overweight people in a country, and the behavior towards overweight people in that country.
let me wake you up to a fact - something being public does NOT mean that anyone is entitled to become jerks about it. just because you see an ass naked in public does NOT mean that you can go screw it.
didnt know that ? tough. someday someone will teach it to you with a kick in the face eventually. and you really seem to be deserving it, by judging from your extremely antisocial mindset. this was what i meant.
in addition, turkey was a country that is secular, and pretty much anti islam in all state respects. this is changing due to the pro-islam government the american neocons (bush & co) got installed in 2002 though. tough luck, americans screwing up another country for their profits again, which will in turn come and bite them in the ass.
i have seen numerous. and i had a few friends who were (and some still are) overweight. actually people are expected to become somewhat overweight as they become older. and so you are considered 'fat' only if you are young and overweight.
there arent any social stigmas regarding weight in turkey. you have to go really, really really go real overweight for it to be a 'stigma' or any other sort.
actually some of the iconic figures in comedy/literature world are overweight people. and getting the name of one of them as a nickname is somewhat endearing, if you have managed to get one. 'tulum hayri' for example, from the school comedy 'hababam sinifi'.
no, fat people are not discriminated in turkey at all. but, you can get pestered to death by warnings against diabetics and heart attacks from your close circle, or practically anyone you come up with, though.
armenians and orthodox christians are not discriminated against in turkey. in fact, many of the rich families are jews or christians.
kurds are discriminated against in turkey. but the catch is, kurds discriminate GREATLY against anyone who are not in their CLAN, leave aside being from another nationality. clan based society is way too strong in kurdish culture, and noone is let in, or let to coexist with them in any place they get the greater numbers. not even other clans. it leads to shootings, murders, sometimes all out massacres like happened in 1.5 or so years ago, in which a group massacred 90 people who were attending a wedding by automatic weapons. their intention was to acquire some pieces of land which were going to soon pass to heirs to their own clan.
not discriminating people who are by culture discriminating against you, is more than stupid. for, they are not going to embrace you when you embrace them. and they plainly say so.
until the clan based society loses prominence in kurdish culture, and kurds start to coexist with other ethnicities as INDIVIDUALS rather than clans, noone will be easily embracing them, and neither should they. because its totally foolish.
please dont make half assed generalizations about issues in remote countries again by the way. if you want so very much, do some extensive research, not believe everything what human rights groups in europe say, because what they know comes from only one side.
it doesnt happen. neither publicly, nor privately. the most overweight people suffer from is constantly being reminded/scolded about diabetics and heart attack possibilities. occasionally they may get nicknames. but depending on their character, they happen to be endearing nicknames from prominent overweight figures from comedies in movie/literature, or generic nicknames. then again, any person who has a noticeable character gets a nickname, not just overweight.
I very much have the idea that you're a bit of a well-meaning naif who can only imagine the world as you've experienced it... but that you are nonetheless wrong. It's nice that you have never seen discrimination, and can't imagine it. That doesn't change that it does, in fact, exist. I have never personally seen a platypus... and since I've had this rock, I've not been mauled by tigers. Neither of these statements change the existence of the platypus, or the fact that there aren't tigers nearby anyway.
there. this was the kind of shitty attitude i was talking about. just out of your ass, you were able to just evaluate who was i, and what i know and what i dont, with just from a posting that contradicts your perceptions and experience. its as if the world revolves around you, and yours is the 'real' world, whereas others' are always some 'exceptions'. this is the shitty attitude thats dominant in america, regardless of you are an american or not.
im not going to even justify that kind of half assed uninformed generalization with a reply. i will just repeat that this is a 7 billion crowded world, and 250 million populated america is but a tiny part of it.
you are betraying your own argument. you are saying that there was dramatic meltdown at the end of last ice age, trying to legitimize the immense rate of meltdown now.
now then. is the ice age that ended 10.000 years ago, is ending again ? is this why there is comparable or faster meltdown ?
you and your obsessions. fat people are not discriminated against or humiliated in any way in my country. the country is turkey. and i have never yet seen any other country nearby, leave aside any european countries in which overweight people were ridiculed, belittled, bullied or discriminated against in any respect.
i very much have the idea that you people are so obsessed with your own socioeconomical circumstances, and so many bullshit propaganda being fed into you that you fail to see a world outside yours with different ideas and inclinations exist.
the evilness of this corporation. my evil quota is full. now, we have seen a lot of horrible moves by microsoft, but i mean this ?!?!
they could just go all out from their seattle hq wearing postals and start kicking fat individuals in the face, saving a lot of effort and budget in the process and patent office's time.
