there are enough troubles trying to make websites work with 4 different type of notable browsers and their versions and wap already. we developers wont be giving a jack about ipone or its follies and change zillions of lines of code for just one fancy dandy trendy company's fancy dandy product. fanatics of that particular company can do whatever they want with their seemingly limitless blogs, yet commercial developer scene wont be interested.

"making gains" does not mean a thing. firefox is "making gains" for the last 4 years and it still can only claim at most 10% of the browser market. as for ssl websites, they are mainly just extensions of microsoft infrastructured small businesses to a webserver. which is a natural hop, and should be expected since there are so many small companies that were locked-in by microsoft.
Back last year when the anti-net neutrality shit hit the fan, courtesy of at&t again, i said that these kind of things were possible to thwart more easily with lobbying. If there was sufficient lobby of google, yahoo and the like back then this thing would never come around even. Good to see that they have understood what to do and going for it. If, a country is run by representatives who are persuaded/bought, you need to stick to the custom yourself to get things done too.

in web hosting market, which multiplies every year, and which means single sites as well as millions of sites, linux not only dominates, but is a prerequisite to existence of any web hosting firm.
that being said, even RIAA is hosting their website on linux box now.
