EQ2 still hasn't reached the number EQ1 hit, but there's a helluva lot more competition out now than there was in 1999. Also a lot of the people who made EQ so good left before or at the beginning of the EQ2 project (McQuaid, Trost, etc). I myself am now looking at Vanguard should I ever really get interested in MMOs again (after 7 years they get to be kinda the same thing in every single game)
