I dunno about the other guys, but I use fastmail.fm for imap and web access, and am very happy with it. See http://www.fastmail.fm

  2. Progeny support? on Red Hat Linux 9 Reaches End-of-Life · · Score: 1

Has anybody got thoughts on Progeny transition support?

I think that it may be the easiest way to avoid (or postpone) an upgrade/reinstallation/distro-switch.

All I want is backported security patches.

  3. There are only two pens to use on When Word Processors Are Out: What's The Best Pen? · · Score: 1

One is the Uniball Gel Impact-RT, the other is the Pilot Explorer. They're both inexpensive but a little hard to find; but the simple reason they are essential is that their clip mechanisms assure that you cannot clip the pen into your pocket without retracting the point.

This prevents ink damage to your shirts, and obviates the need for a plastic pocket protector, which is a well-known obstacle to engineer procreation, or even dating.

Sherwood has used www.dovebid.com, an auction house; I also heard that the deals aren't that sweet, but it probably varies by the type of equipment. Aeron's have gone for 50 cents on the dollar at some auctions; you might be able to get something less famous for a better price.

Not unless he raises a mess of money on a fantasy shot at the public equity market, like his "customers." His role helps keep business out of chapter, everybody out of court, and to maximize the return to the creditors. It's an honest business, if not a "specialty" I'd choose. The evil part is in the waste and foolishness he's seen, not his contribution to it!
