    It isn't heretical approach. I thought white background is always better. Some people think black is beter. I was wrong, so I corrected myself (now I say that neither is actually better, but this depends on who you ask). Btw, I don't use emacs nor vi, don't know which is better. I just use mcedit ;)

    Why freaks?. This means there are 10 types of people... those who like bright background and those who like dark background. So it's just a matter of liking.

    Black background with bright letters is NOT easier on the eyes. I prefer white background because I dont have burned white lines on my eyes after reading.

    It's just bad scientce reporting. It WAS double blind test. There were two groups - one with people who sayed they suffer from ilness, and normal people. In both groups only 4.5% guessed correctly wheter mast was on (ie. their symptoms were correlated to mast being on or off). It's just statistical deviation.

    So what? They don't want it anyway. Only WE want it, they feel like they must comply with demand. If it will not be possible to deliver video on demand, they will say "See, due to piracy we can't even make profits from new technologies like VOD, pleaase think of teh actors!!!11oneone".

    You can authorise home edition by phone. In almost every country there is a free phone. It was necessary for one of my friends who doesn't have network, but had new computer with vista. Xp doesn't have common sata drivers and this computer doesn't have fdd, so i would have to either preinstall xp in another computer (impossible due to warranty labels) or make custom xp cd.

    "U.S. publications are more highly cited than those from other countries". Because they are in English and it's "the language" of science currently? I'm not saying it's main reason, but it may have some meaning. And any day I would like better publications over more publications.

    Exactly that is what I'm saying. Computer science is an amalgam of mathematics, algorithms, engineering. How else do you describe what researchers do with computers in overall?

    My campus network will be accessible only on login, so theoretically there will be way to identifi person using address. But only inside network, because it is behind nat, so anyone using internet (some 3k people) will have same ip.
