Looks better and a lot less subtle with the bullshit that we get here in Australia. Apart from the fact there is no AO or 18+ Rating (This has being well documented previously), we now get HUGE coloured boxes on the bottom of the packaging that take up a great deal of the box, sometimes even hiding game art. They had a choice of making them as Subtle as the previous ones here in Australia which were of similar size to the ESRB ones, but they decided to make huge ones.
Example http://www.oflc.gov.au/resources/454.jpg G (Actual Size on Box, Occasionally Bigger If the box is bigger, as well as having to cover 20% of the screen on TV Ads.) http://www.oflc.gov.au/resources/455.jpg PG http://www.oflc.gov.au/resources/456.jpg M http://www.oflc.gov.au/resources/452.jpg MA15+
They are just plain ridiculous, and some of the detail they go into, e.g "Science Fiction Violence" or "Heavy Gore". A lot of the time even due to the size, they are not just stickered on so you can have clean game boxes either free of this rubbish. Compared to what we get here, ESRB doesn't deserve to be criticised.
Unforunately, the only reason flash is still around is because users like us are increasingly blocking ads through various means on the various web browsers we use. However, many of these adblockers (Like Firefoxes AdBlock Extension) no longer block Flash Advertising due to various issues. This makes the advertisement more viewable by even a smaller sample of the public reading it. There doesn't seem to be much more explanation for using flash on news websites, however.
I have noticed the BBC site is set to cover the full screen only when you are using the highly antiquated 800x600 (Famous for use on Flickery 15" CRTs). They could at least make a preference for resolution change, or go up to a 2006 Web Standard of 1024x768, since not many of us use 800x600 these days unless we are completely nuts, or are stuck with an ancient screen. And looking at there low graphics version of the site, I think they can just abolish that considering it looks like a PDA Site/Site Made for use for IE2/Netscape 3.
Its like there PR department is wanting them to fail miserably and continue to struggle. Well, they always seem to get there portables right but after the Nintendo 64 they seem to be struggling console-wise, achieving a market share of 15% or less in most districts (Here in Australia they've never had more then a 6% Share with the GameCube. I think the odds of this system being there last "Console" (Not Portable) have just shot right up, even if they are rolling in cash still.
The console is full of excellent ideas and truly revolutionary implementation, which is why the ORIGNAL name would have suited it fine, even if it was just like a codename.
Judging from there PR Departments current antics, the console is liable to be coloured Neon Yellow/Green/Pink. As well as the fact that we know that the GameCube wasn't the most marketed of consoles.
