I wonder what Ralph Nader would say? The Corvair has a better safety record than the Shuttle program. The Shuttles weren't safe when they were new. Now with countless millions of miles on the odometer, they really didn't improve with age. Sure many improvements were made over the years, but the whole system was flawed from the beginning. Put them out of their misery and get them to the museums before there is another tragedy!
No, these are not predictions, they are arbitrarily defined using astrological methods. For example, Easter Sunday is the first Sunday after the full moon following the northern hemisphere's vernal equinox. This is no more a prediction than a house's address predicts its existence. Besides, this isn't even Astrology---it's Astronomy. Picking the date may be based on Astrology. Finding the date relies on Astronomy.
Actually, the copyright holder has to serve Apple with some sort of formal complaint. This needs to be more than whiny emails. At that point some of Apple's lawyers may stop laughing if the sense a credible lawsuit coming. Otherwise, they can just ignore it.
Sure, any competent navigator knows how/when to use GPS. The problem is with all of the other incompetent navigators that rely on the GPS to navigate for them.
It was a truly sad day (in 2004) when India's court ruled that astrology was a science, but it wasn't the first. The article states that the Bombay High Court merely reaffirmed this ruling. So it's *another* sad day for India. They just don't know the difference between an philosophy and a science.
Let's face it. Apple only cares about Apple. If the game did something that Apple didn't like, or used a likeness of Steve Jobs, or the Apple logo, that app would have been off of the app store so fast that photons would say "wow, what was that?"
Apple doesn't care about anything else. They are not champions of what is right or just.
Yes, winning the Nobel Prize is news. Being nominated is NOT news.
Anyhow, at least Wikileaks did something. It's not on par with Liu Xiaobo's, but it's much better than the 2009 winner of the peace prize (Mr. Obama) did not do any "work for fraternity between nations, the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses" when he won. His "deeds" were just talk and speculation in 2009 and even now in 2011. Too bad Mr. Nobel didn't put aside something for political speech-writing and finger pointing...
The original poster was implying that just because a tool is being sold that it is still in use. I don't think that's necessarily a valid conclusion.
I know there are quite a bit of retro-geeks around. (Myself included---every once in a while I like to dust off my Curta calculator and grind away with the "pepper mill".)
By the way, Kudos on the floppy adapter!

All because you can buy 8" floppy drives doesn't mean they are used. Some people just like to buy old things. Since the 8" floppy was introduced in 1971 it still has a way to go before it is considered a bona fide antique.
I rarely use my phone for "chattering". It's mostly for data (especially e-mail). Also, people have been known to chatter and talk without phones on the plane.
I haven't seen any shows calling for slaughter---Kahn style. But I see your point. Environmentalists are sneaky. For example: they start things like "corn to ethanol" for fueling cars and other things. So, everyone feels obliged to use all of the food for the cars. The governments kowtow to the pressure to supply ethanol. Then, there's no food and large populations starve. Then, the people on die off (probably the poorest are the first to go). Then, global warming solved.
It just isn't a real replacement to the Google Street View unless he snoops onto the WiFi. Of course, maybe he just doesn't realize that the software is there to do it;-)
Just imagine what Scaled Composites would be able to do with $1.5 billion!

Apple's policies on so many aspects of their app store suggests that they are above the law. Why should this be any different?

So, what testable predictions has Astrology confirmed? I suspect none, so it's not a science.

Government agencies ignored an OMB mandate. This is not exactly news.

OMG. I cannot believe that a few members of Congress actually get it. Way to go Franken and Cantwell!!!
I guess we will see what happens.
Perhaps a Borgified Balmer?
I really love it when people recycle solutions for completely different problems.
I agree. This analogy is so flawed I don't even want to read the remainder of the post.

Since the Georgia Guidestones call for keeping the population below 500,000,000 people, who gets to decide who lives or dies?
So, did Genghis or Genghis or any other Mongol contemporary use the Roman alphabet?
So, how long until environmentalists call for mass execution to reduce humanity's carbon footprint?
So, when can "us mortals" start using cell phones on airplanes?
