  3. nope on Are Two Spaces After a Period Better Than One? (arstechnica.com) · · Score: 2, Insightful

Fonts did not solve this problem. Do you select a different space after a sentence or do you just press the space bar? The characters in a font do not know where they are. If you are lucky some software will fix this when the text is presented. Otherwise, it will not.

The added carbon footprint of using an extra space is killing the planet! More resources are needed to accommodate each and every extra space. That's why you must fight the evil double space.

Indeed, it is probably more secure, I do not understand why Microsoft is trying to fix Intel's problem. Now, they created their own mess and fell in it.

Exactly. That's why facts were often published in books. Their thin pages make it easy to create smoke.

  11. Lawyers did not kill the private small plane industry. Less people are getting pilot certificates and there is a glut of older planes on the market---and many of those older planes will outlive their new owners.

  12. fair enough on Did Harvard Scientists Predict The End of the Universe? (gizmodo.com) · · Score: 1

Ok. Fair enough. What about an error bar based on observations of similar universes exposed to similar conditions?
I'm sure a double-blind study would be out of the question. :-)
It's crappy conjecture, loosely based on "science" found in the Sun (the tabloid, not the bright object we observe in the sky).

  19. I wholeheartedly agree. The people who allowed traffic near the bridge while post-tensioning activities should (as a minimum) have their licenses revoked and be put on trial for manslaughter.

  20. True, but Facebook's customers are not it's product either. Who pays to use Facebook? It certainly isn't people posting updates of their relationship status. Facebook's customers are the people paying for ads, analytics, and the like.
Tim Cook should know this, but he is just yelling in the megaphone perched on the wall of the walled garden. Giving the aforementioned "Mindless Slaves" some reassurance that they are not being sheared too closely.

  21. Way to miss the point!
No, not just for game rule sets, but software products in general. The bar is VERY low.
Personally, I couldn't care more about enforcing rules for F1, NFL, NBA, FIFA, or any other organizations playing games.
