Funny story: I used to work at the local paintball field Mancow played at once in awhile with Shatner and other celebs. A couple years ago, during one of the Shatner games, Mancow shot himself in the foot, faked a leg injury, and limped off for fear of getting shot. He played a total of about 7 minutes that day. Next morning though, he was back on the radio, screaming about how he kicked all kinds of ass and pwned the field.
Of course, none of the refs could seem to get through his screeners that morning...
Unions are 100% useless today because they don't have the balls to kick the CEO's ass in the parking lot, turn over and burn cop cars, etc... when things are going very unfair. They just roll over and ask for more.
Unions are not some mysterious, faceless third party. Unions are you and the guy next to you and the woman next to him. Unions are comprised of the people in them, they are not just the bureaucrats that were elected to lead and are now screwing you.
If you don't like your union, because the bureaucrats don't listen, collude with management, or are just plain inneffectual, you have the power and the right to change them. You can run your own candidates for union office, elect new shop stewards, decertify one union in favor of another more effectual one, or wildcat strike or work-to-rule until someone listens to your compalints.
Until working people, union members included, realize that this entire planet only runs because WE make it run, we're going to keep sinking deeper and deeper.

It's not the first time this district has done something stupid, and it won't be the last. Plainfield is notorious for idiotic decisions around here.
