in my personal opinion there are two things that makes sc different. a) nostalgia for singleplayer. b) fantastic multiplayer by virtue of blizzard's excellent job at balancing three very different races. as far as i know, it was the first popular rts that pulled off such a system.
gosu is actually a corruption of chinese. in mandarin, gao shou (or something like that), litterally means high handed, meaning of great skill. gao shou to gosu, keeping the basic idea.
its a bit confused right now. it use to be the registrations were open for 24 hours on fridays (i assume GMT). however, they changed it to something like 5 continuous days per month, w/o setting us a precise schedule. better off finding someone with an account and asking for an invite code.
maybe he's talking about images off a computer? like a 3d render, or an illustration of some sort which has to be rediculously big, detailed, printed, and compressed.
sometimes bones can't heal by themselves. there are many disorders/diseases that can cause such a problem (see earlier posts). also, as you stated, most people don't have any missing bones. that means some people DO have missing bones. i see benefit there.
most cops there only have regular firearms when they REALLY need it! (they have to go call for a truck with guns to drive there, or for a quasi swat unit to show up)
well, to be fair, there IS a land based phalanx. you fire in half second bursts and it shouldnt be that bad. and if your wondering, they use HE-I bullets to blow up on impact or tracer burnout, so the chances of missed bullets landing somewhere is pretty low. besides, if your defending a single fixed point, especially one that is essentially the start of your supply line, logistics wont be such a problem.
What virus? if what the article says is correct (and im understanding it properly), the vaccine is a "virus-like particle" which has the major HIV protein markers and coatings, that are common across all strains of HIV (but lacks any actual RNA to inject into cells). The marker's will hopefully trigger the immune system to build resistance. Now that thats out of the way, this sounds kinda fishy. It's one thing to come up with a vaccine, but it also claims to be a cure for HIV infections that have already taken place. As much as I wish that was true, it seems so improbable that the first 'cure' for a viral infection that we ever develope is not only vaccine, but also against what is possibly the deadliest virus lying around.
does anyone have any idea how strong (grip strength, shock resistant, etc) these hands are? i notice theres diagram in the article showing a 'power grip', but it doesn't go into detail on its limits.
thats a wonderful idea. now all we have to do is get every single nation and group on earth to agree not to advance beyond an arbitary level of military tech development. oh wait. how do you enforce it??
the reaper has a max altitude of 15 000 meters. the stinger missile (just as an example) has a maximum range (in any direction, including straight up) of 5 000 meters. so, not bad.
it requires you to actually climb onto the tank. tank optics are located a) above the driver aka, right below the barrel, b) on top of the turret. attempting either will probably result in a bullet ridden body from an angry crew. that being said, tank optics are one of the most vulenerable parts on a tank. you can severely reduce a tanks combat effectiveness with a few well placed (and i mean very well placed) rifle bullets. not 'easy' but easier than blowing the whole thing up.
in general, you can program in overall commands (fly here, patrol here for x amount of time, look for target here, stuff like that). then when you come into actually shooting, then you get the human directly aiming the laser (assuming its a hellfire), and hitting the 'fire' button. though im sure once you get into gps guided bombs onto fixed locations, then it just becomes a human giving the final "blow it up" command.
yup. us navy has developed the mq-8 fire scout, and its not being used by bunch of branches of us forces. its designed to provide recon, and battlefield awareness to ground forces. im sure that there are others, but from what i remember, the marines and the army have tiny uavs (backpack size) that they can launch by throwing. they got little cameras on them, and can stream video. apparently the guys on the ground love this stuff.
cause in order to continue breathing, pressure within the lungs must equal pressure exerted on the body. you increase external pressure, you can increase air pressure with it (like in scuba). you decrease pressure, i guess you can decrease pressure to a certain degree. of course, 0psi external pressure = 0psi in the lungs = no gas = no good. hence the need to maintain pressure on the human body by w/e means.
from what i remember, that's correct. soda that isnt "cola" isnt allowed caffeine. which kinda doesnt make sense to me, cause somehow i doubt barq's is a cola. so it seems that indeed, it just has to be dark coloured. seems like a dumb way to limit this stuff though.
what? gate is no longer richest man in the world not because he lost buttloads of money, but rather another guy saw a 27% rise in his stock options! unless you're telling us that vista caused American Movil to see massive stock jump (however that works), vista has nothing to do with this.
they can already move around, and i guess you could call them kinda agile. just no matter what, satellites must carrying all the fuel they're ever use in their lifetime in one liftoff, limiting just how much fuel you can carry. also, as the problem appears to be energy weapons, "dodging" the beam is nonsense. you can aviod them, but that means if china just throws up some of these energy weapons near every sensitive sight, they just created a big hole in your intelligence capabilities.

im pretty sure they are being used along with normal soldiers. like a completely disposable point man or something.

http://www.iop.org/EJ/abstract/1748-3190/2/3/001 Theres the abstract. Full text costs money apparently.

...it makes us feel big...

well, the US navy has trained dolphins for mine searching/sweeping, as well as providing protection from enemy frogmen.

i think they launched a test or prototype. then they ran out of money or some crap like that.

its fun? seriously, i doubt anyone believes this to be a serious engine type for mass use.
