    apparently its almost impossible to make something that fast stealthy, as the gas shooting out of it is superheated to the point where it actually reflects radar. thus, they're going to detect a couple hundred mile long radar contact moving at speeds lower than a ballistic missle, and in a non ballistic path.

    you open up top level teams, you end up with a 10:1 male female ratio or something. it'll effectively be the same thing, or even worse. especially with the more physically demanding sports. not to mention a PR shitstorm that is going to appear when some female athlete gets all beat up by a guy (thick hockey).

    maybe it just has games worth playing? the tech support isnt even that bad. really, given the crap level of quality of hardware that we've grown use to (break in a couple years... months...), having something break after a year, and then getting it replaced for free isnt so bad.

    agreed. hockey has both hits and skill. much the same can be said of football, ultimate fighting, and i guess nascar (i am not a fan). just as the skill required for hockey is not obvious less one has a understanding of the game, there is skill in football and mixed martials arts, and driving cars round in a circle (i guess?). notice how most highlight reels for football normally have a mix between incredible long bomb passes, sick footwork, sheer brute explosive strength, and great hits? mma is less certain. the point of mma is to hit. and hit hard. its just that in theory, landing those hits takes great skill.

    having a remote override is even worse. now you can get hijacked without the hijackers even being on the plane... also, even with an unopenable door, they could still yell through, threatening that they're killing all the passengers or something, less takes place. as gp said, it could have occured, but differently.

    except those who don't die. those are called survivors. in order for the students to sucessfully defend themselves against a guy who has way more firepower on his side, they have to act in unison. kinda hard to find a bunch of people who are just as scared as you are and plan something. it can be done, as united 93 showed us, but then again, they knew they were all going to die anyways. much harder in this case.

    mostly stuff that's image related. say you have a lot of photos you want to sort based on subject matter. so you can have a lot of thumbnails, and be able to "fling" images around. sure, you can do it just fine with a mouse, but i imagine it would reduce stress, maybe speed things up a bit (per action), and by allowing you to use both hands at once, speed things up even more. this isnt something thats going to replace mouse and keyboard for everyone, doesnt mean that its useless.

    just because they work at microsoft, doesn't mean they can't have fun. the bin is apparently set up in the Zune dev team's headquaters, which is apparently no where close to the rest of MS. Don't have to flame everything MS does (yes, i know its /.).

    i should hope that one can pick out a bunker, muta, ling, and marine. there are some units that you just can't do away in starcraft. those are some of them. and its kinda hard to make them look like something else. also if you took a look at the starcraft2 site, they have some info on new toss units up, and the way it looks, is that toss gets a shift in their style. the arbitor teleport is completely upscaled, my favorite unit has a new name, and bigger guns. I admit, my wishes for sc2 are probably diff from some others (keep population cap at 200, if it means lower the graphics, keep the game micro based, keep the 'traditiona' race roles, etc etc), but basing your crtitism on the fact that returning units look like the originals, from early screenshots, which were probably chosen for the fact that they don't too too much, and that also don't show gameplay mechanics, seems like a poor decision.

    i believe that with the low power systems which only power up to change the image have this weird flickering when switching because of the need to reintroduce power. at least this was the case of the b/w ebook readers. i believe there was an article here about this sometime ago.

    the whole friggin world uses 0.50 cal or bigger on whatever targets there happen to be. theres nothing in the geneva conventions about large caliber machine guns. us military might not do some nice things, but this is just made up bullshit.

    one problem with rts ai is that it is almost impossible to teach ai how to preform high level micro management. while ai is capable of multiple instant commands, total awareness of their own situations (ie don't get distracted by fighting and forget to keep expanding), as well as basic micro like focus fire, target priority, and maybe even some degree of dancing, even the best ai cannot preform the most complicated micro. perfect example would be starcraft. there are mods that enhance the standard ai to be more unpredictable, to use more advanced build orders and counters, but regardless, has to get the ai cheat with free money, because whenever equal armies met, the human player would always win, because the ai can't micro for shit, so it has to be compensated with bigger armies, and armies that grow faster.

    photoshop isnt primarily a drawing application. although it is powerful enough to use for drawing/painting (that's what i use it for, along with a tablet), i would agree that photoshop's line and shapes are... pretty confusing. that being said, the plain and simple brush/pencil should turn out just the same as mspaint brush/pencil. as for gimp... i have no quarrels with it. i just like photoshop a lot better.

    nuclear non proliferation treaty. iran has signed it. basically, countries that have signed on that already have nuclear weapons (say... the us or russia) have to work to decrease the number of warheads (they are doing that), and countries that don't have nuclear weapons don't get any, and don't get to research them. since iran has signed the treaty, and didn't have nukes at the time, they are not allowed to get/research them.

    there are third party software for starcraft (not sure about wc3) that can detect some hacks. besides competitive starcraft moved onto private servers a while ago (PGT and whatever) where enforcing hacks is easier.
