Because remembering to type "man" in front of the program name to discover what files configure it is just so horribly difficult. And then typing "vim.config", dear lord the TORTURE.!
Frankly, what CLI phobia tells the world is that *you* think you're an idiot.
Speaking of Android concerns there's also the swiftness with which posts like the one I made above get modded "troll".
Seems to me there's big google money being spent on astroturfers, or perhaps Taco and Co have signed a special contract...
You really are old enough to should know better than to try that hoary, ancient troll. Maybe if you learn more about how linux systems work you'll get over the delusion that the only thing wrong with windows security is "it's too popular".
android is 'all over the place'. its a dogs breakfast. (that's not a good thing, btw).
I'm with you, it's dreadful. My friend has a verizon Droid which has made random calls and sent random texts since new. It flat-out astonishes me that people not only put up with shenanigans like that, but they will aggressively try to shout down anyone who mentions it. When it comes to Android, the emperor simply has no clothes. Of course, the same thing has been true of microsoft's offerings since the beginning. Doesn't seem to hurt adoption, so long as the marketing hits the right spot. But I strongly prefer competent systems.
Is it just me or does Android seem to have these security problems come out almost every day?
It isn't just you. So far the fanbois mod me down every time I say so, but android really is a huge disappointment. So ironic that Linux finally gets popular, but in such a form.
So, we typically pay the guys who handle our massively-complex-bundle-of-personal-information-and-spying-potential about as well as the guys who change our oil and then bad things often happen.
My car is way more complex than my laptop. Perhaps that's why auto mechanics are also notorious for dishonesty and/or incompetence?
The day you guys come up with something apart from "Blame the operator" is the day Microsoft has a chance of making a secure OS.
I don't care much for Microsoft, but there is no such thing as a secure OS. Users can be secure of they know what they need to know, but no OS is "secure" in the hands of the average user. Sad but true...
I'm sorry, but providers of public infrastructure do not have those "private property rights". IRL when you corner a market you also incur an obligation. Stop with the "this is what our purchased laws say we can get away with", already!
That is disturbing. I have experienced TPB being blocked on at&t dsl several times, each time I got around it by using tor. You might give it a shot (not for using bt itself, just for reaching TPB to get them).
In regards to the Sony hack which Anonymous supposedly denies, if Anonymous is leaderless, isn't it pretty much impossible to say whether or not they did something? Can't anybody claim to be Anonymous and do what ever they want? I assume for anything Anonymous does there are some people who consider themselves members who disagree, so does that mean Anonymous didn't do it?
Either "Anonymous" is useful to the powers that be (i.e. it's a CIA/NSA/whatever plot) or soon we'll see someone arrested for terrorism or kiddie porn who identifies as "Anonymous", followed by a witch hunt. Or maybe both.
From the article: 'This collective identity belongs to no one in particular, but is at the disposal of anyone who knows its rules and knows how to apply them.
But not to anyone else, is that the story? So much glorification of such a flimsy premise...

Um, you forgot the rest of us. You know, slashdotters who aren't irrational, flaming, fanbois? We're probably the majority, too.

Or you could unjustifiably assuming things. I've been in the room when her Droid was on the table with no-one anywhere near it and it called me. :P

See? Retards...
Yes, you just do that. Meanwhile, those of us with more than two brain cells to rub together will stick with anything but windows.

Oh, can't count to 80, huh?
Not interested in your P3 (pinhead partisan politics), sorry.
Here I thought it was, "Badly Written Sensationalist Stories for Nerds, Stuff Like Something from the Daily Mail That Matters.
Your ridicule is inappropriate, and you appear to be part of the problem.

Bread and circuses. Business as usual, I'm afraid...
Hehe...

Unless we're talking about Maximum Bob Lutz, of course.
I actually wonder if there ever was such a person as ObL.

A common mistake city people make. Another is confusing hillbillies with rednecks. I come from a hillbilly family, but we had a few redneck neighbors.
Sara Palin can see it from her front yard.
