  1. How about correlation with marketing budget? on Rotten Tomatoes Scores Don't Correlate To Box Office Success or Woes, Research Shows (polygon.com) · · Score: 1

So there may not be a correlation between "Box Office Mojo numbers" and "critic and audience score", but how does the spent marketing budget play into this? I assume if you plaster a city with movie ads, more people will go and watch. So if you want high box office numbers, you can buy them with advertising.

  2. AI is different on Workers: Fear Not the Robot Apocalypse (wsj.com) · · Score: 1

We had a lot of technologies established supporting the human work and employment, agreed. But if those next-gen machines (AI+robots) are suddenly more intelligent, faster and stronger, on the the other side don't need sleep, don't get sick and don't earn a salary - what is left there for us to do except for writing poems?

  3. Hardware is easy, software is hard on Raspberry Pi 3 Is a Nice Upgrade, But Alternatives Exist With Faster Performance (phoronix.com) · · Score: 1

Hardware alternatives exist, but make sure the software support is good. Nothing more annoying when a simple "apt-get upgrade" doesn't work on supplied distros or "apt-get install something" just throws errors. Seems hardware is easy, software is hard.

  4. Humans and society before space program? on India Ends Russian Space Partnership and Will Land On the Moon Alone · · Score: 1

With a child mortality rate (under five years old) in India of 52 (compare UK: 5, US: 7) and a literacy rate of 90% (or 74%, depending on source; compare UK/US: 99%) I wonder if the money should not rather be spend on healthcare and education (and health education). Even though space travel and lunar landing seems more fun.

  5. Nice try on A Campaign to Block Firefox Users? · · Score: 1

"A TV station is aiming at blocking modern TV users. This because a majority of the TV users installed a remote control and are therefor 'stealing money' from TV station owners that use ads by changing the channel. They recommend using black&white TVs with turning knobs instead."

  6. No DGM (Digital Games Management) on EU Countries Call Out iTunes DRM · · Score: 1

Open up restrictive DGM schemes and let me play my Xbox games on the Playstation!

Say no to digital vendor lock in! ;)

  7. total bollocks on Best of the Free Anti-virus Choices? · · Score: 1

This is total bollocks (as a british friend would call it). So you don't drive a car with airbags and anti-breaking system because it increases your car's weight, therefore slows it down and you are a save driver???

Get real, even if you are without a fault, someone else may make a mistake and it will hit you. Someone else's computer gets infected and sends you an e-mail (with known sender) or a website gets hacked and has some malicious code on it.

My AntiVir consumes about 0% of processing power and I am willing to give up some main memory to be on the save side and have a little bit of protection
