Re Science: Researchers Pinpoint Cause of Gluten Allergies : Fortunately I am not a Coeliac (the European spelling) but my wife is. Several contributors have already correctly pointed out that it is NOT an allergy, it is an intolerance to Gluten. Each European Country (or most) have an Organisation, such as the Coeliac Society in England, who exist not only to help Coeliacs, but also to educate the doctors to be able to identify the symptoms so they can make an initial diagnosis. Some fifteen to twenty years ago, not very many doctors had any idea what to look for. One contributor has even sneered at the Biopsies saying they are useless. All the Coeliac organisations in Europe will only accept new members when they have had a positive biopsy, and they all agree the biopsy is the only way to correctly identify whether a person is a Coeliac. The more rigourous a person sticks to their gluten free diet, the greater the adverse reaction if ever they consume, usually unintentionally, any gluten. Several contributors have even tried to say that if you do not observe a gluten free diet, it will not matter, but if Coeliacs are not careful with their diet, they can get acute anaemia which can be fatal if untreated. They can also get a particularly aggressive form of bowel cancer. They can also develop other forms of autoimmune problems and diabetes. However, it is not recommended that people especially children start on a gluten free diet without first consulting their doctor, as if they are not Coeliacs, the effect of the diet can be adverse. One most have sympathy for Coeliacs as it can be a very frustrating diet, my wife in particular hates it when I eat freshly baked bread or Rolls because the smell of them is so good and her memory then makes it worse. However people who must rigidly stick to a Gluten Free AND Lactose free diet are much worse off, as it is much more difficult to find anything suitable for them to eat.

What a typical British uninformed tirade by 'drsquare'. Some of his points are valid as I too agree that the EU politicians do not care what their constituents say, and that goes for the British politicians as well, who incidentally, are far more ready than the bigger EU States on the Continent to steal our private data and give it to the damned yanks. I live in Austria five minutes from the German 'Border', and we cross back and forth nearly every day. The thought of having to always carry two currencies again is an awful thought. We love the Euro Zone, and only wish the Labour Hypocrites in Government had done as they said, that is to go into the Euro Zone 'when the Exchange Rate was right'. It is now far better than Blair and Brown ever hoped, but neither has/had any intention of joining. Shame on the liars. The only problem for us is that because Britain did not join the Zone, and because the EURO has risen so strongly against Sterling, my pension (from my employer) which comes from Britain is now worth nearly 20 per cent LESS than it was SIX months ago! AND drsquare talks as if he knows all about the Euro Zone and the strength of the pound! Think again, and before you mouth off again, try to get your facts correct.

Please can someone help me! I have tried several times to prove all the statistics quoted about the cow's methane. However, I am having very real problems - about 95% of all the Litre bottles I have shoved up the cow's ass in an attempt to fill the bottles has ended in a very dangerous failure. The bottles shoot off like rockets, ricochetting all over the place, and so far I have hospitalised some 256 people, 75 dogs and countless cows

I am sorry to have to correct Martin Foster's simplistic solution to this particular air accident. He states that if both pilots had acted on the Air Traffic Controllers instructions, the accident would have been avoided. This particular crash happened about a hundred miles from where I live, and the Russian aircraft actually flew directly over where I live on its journey to the point of impact. The problems were compounded by human intervention. Firstly the Russian aircrew had very poor command of the English language and thereby did not react properly. Secondly, of the two Swiss Air Traffic Controllers who should have been on duty, one had illegally left the ATC Centre, and his colleague was therefore doing the work of two people, and doing it badly. The conclusion to this particular accident was that the Russian father of one of the Russian children on board the passenger aircraft actually went to Switzerland and murdered the offending AT Controller. Reliance on computers would have avoided this crash and many of those passengers and the aircrew of the cargo plane who did nothing wrong would be alive today
