Though this auction could be nifty, I don't think you're going to find any BeBoxes laying around Be Inc. mainly due to this little tidbit:Interesting history: David [Cantrell] obtained this BeBox from Be's offices in Menlo Park, CA. It was being discarded and he "rescued" it from the trash heap with the help of a former Be employee. It lacks the CPU load LEDs on the front, but other than that, it's still in great shape. http://www.bebox.nu/beboxnames.php and scroll down to see the original post.
You did good work with BeOS and will be missed by many.
My CIS teacher today was talking about using 802.11b in lieu of Excite@Home and what not (he may be getting cut off tomorrow.) That got me to thinking about an iPaq/Yopy (or any of the other linux/pocket pc capable PDA's), 802.11b PCMCIA/CompactFlash card and a VOIP application, all combined with a nice NAN (Neighborhood Area Network.)
About 5 linksys WAPS ($139 a Piece on Pricewatch) would cover our entire campus (I have my own personal one but it just covers the dorm.) Anyway, carrying around a little PDA (or using your laptop) would give you nice voice/video/data as long as you were in range, spread those WAP puppies around the city and that would be pretty pimp. Imagine roaming with nice speeds anywhere in town.
That brings me to the point where I am clueless. Can anybody help, how do you provide seamless transitions between WAPs? I'd hate to be downloading a file and wander out of one WAPs range, can another closeby pick me up seamlessly? (I know I can connect to either, but can it switch automatically without interrupting communcation?) Linux seems to usually be the most ahead in these types of bleeding edge apps... Anybody have any URLs?

I don't know if DOS retaliation is the right tact to take, but it sure is a shame we can't have a real life doberman that will sick whoever makes a pop-under ad... Wonder where X-10 HQ is?

With online news feeds coming in to the local radio station and the quality of the "Rich" custom voice, I have a feeeling a lot of announcers may be going bye bye. In these samples he's way better than our local guy. Plus, since Shoutcast and such already have all the song info, think of the cool DJ announcing you could have.
My roommate and I used the older online AT&T TTS to do our answering machine message for the dorm... It's did pretty will with "This is mack daddy JD and phat daddy John's room" that's the only message we've ever had that people would call back just to hear. With the old AT&T system you could adjust the pitch and various other settings to get it to sound good, I can't imagine what their new system will do!

PC Power and Cooling makes a line of silencer
power supplies. They are very quiet (at least the 235ATX is), but I boycot PCP&C
because they gave me a big hassle on a return.
Also, if you're intersted in cutting down on hard drive noise, power usage
(and you want to be super cool too) then get a Sandisk Flashdrive.
No moving parts and they connect to a standard IDE connector, pretty pimp.
Lastly, don't get a highspeed PIII laptop because the fans are pretty loud
and boy do those things get hot, almost as bad as hot grits down your pants.
Hum, perhaps a Transmeta laptop with Flashdrive storage, running Midori
from good ol' Linus?
Gunnison CO was my first encounter with a diesel sedan. While walking past a VW Jetta, I tried to figure out where the truck was. Funny hearing a diesel idle coming from a snazzy car (instead of a semi.)
After reading about the phenomenal mileage (56MPG HWY) I got all excited about buying one. Then I realized I'm in college (have no money) so I got out my bicycle instead. Happy every since.

I recently sold for $1119.00 the BeBox that I bought my freshman year for $600 used. This marked first time I've ever bought a computer and it increased in value. Here's the eBay auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem& item=1302540562

If you haven't already, listen to the AT&T Customized Voice Product Demo (U.S. English, Male: "Rich"), truly amazing.
