    No, you just replace the whole assembly that failed. The motherboard snaps out, the speaker,camera, etc. The cost is relatively low. No solder needed.

    That's not a fair comparison. Ribbon cables go through one mating cycle. They are reliable in that usage. An actual module connector that can survive tons on insertions, and cheetos / pocket lint is a whole other can of worms.

    Like you have to do right now..OMG! Phones are dead simple, and have very few parts in them. Repairing them is simple, and no repair takes more than 20 minutes.

    The reason a littmann is made of thick heavy materials is because hearing the subject is a whole lot easier than keeping outside noise out. I'd imagine a plastic head would be subject to a lot of outside noise.

    You're forgetting though that a text message is far more likely to be transmitted than a phone call when there is minimal signal.

    If you're not double checking your meter reading against a known live source before and after your test reading please stay out of a live panel. That's electrician 101. Plenty of "good" meters will get you killed if you're relying on it to think for you. The hold button has gotten many people in trouble for not following procedure as well. I agree with you on all of your other points though. Cheap meters should not go near mains voltage.

    That's how the altima was, but the feedback wasn't there to give me any confidence in what I was doing. No beeps, or indicators. I don't mind the on/off setup, but it needs to be standardized and tactile.

    S2000 owner here :) Rented a altima hybrid in california, which I hated. The start button was so confusing to me. There wasn't a "engine running' light or anything, and no diagram of what button presses do what. This is coming from a control tech! I pulled out the manual to learn how to drive the damn car before I realized pressing the gas started the motor. Yet again, not one indicator of whether the motor was running or not. I agree there needs to be a industry standard control for these vehicles.

    The problem with lojack is that only an authorized installer can put the thing in your car. They usually don't try to hide it very well. Most installers put it in the same spot on all their vehicles too, so thieves know to check one or two spots real quick.

    WRONG. Only boxes made before january 06 are coverd. My box was a February box and I had to eat it.

    It's not just a problem with the pre-january boxes. All of them are dying. Mine lasted a scant 4 months, and they want $128 to fix an already $400 box. Some people are on there third or fourth box, and it's not because they're being mistreated. Microsoft is simply trying to delay the backlash of a faulty design. I put mine back in the box, uninstalled every MS OS in my house, and finaly switched to Linux. I'll wait for the class action lawsuit and get it fixed for free.
