I smell a huge opportunity for third party consumer security auditing and forensics. Many consumers will want some assurance that their PCs meet the bank's security standards. Forensics will be important for breeched accounts that are not audited.
If the 1965 sedan broke down less (less crashes), had better parts availability (more hardware support), had cheaper parts (runs on cheaper hardware), used less gas (more resource/energy efficient), and could still get you to your destination faster (faster for most tasks) then I'd say keep Windows XP... I mean the 1965 sedan.
Well a lot of these devices like the Eee don't have physical hard drives which means less vibration but those flash chips will produce heat for sure. Also, Vista will probably wear out those flash chips much faster especially if they are MLC chips.
It's easy for me to stay away from Creative but harder when a device I want to buy comes with Creative onboard or as the only option. It'd be nice to get the industry into this movement as well.
I like your thinking but I'd like like to elaborate on it.
You say that "...the use of the Internet will drop..." but it's also very important to understand why this is important.
We're at a critical point in US history where we are loosing (already lost?) our position as the most technically innovative country in the world. A reduction in Internet penetration will increase the digital divide and worsen this trend. Other countries such as India, Japan, China and Korea to name a few, will take (have taken?) the lead partially because of American bureaucracy.
is hard to find an objective explanation of how AIR is going to fill a huge need or bake better bread.
Well you see, air is the medium which transfers heat evenly through convection in the baking process. Without air I believe the bread would burn on one side and remain batter on the other but experiments in a vacuum are necessary to confirm this hypothesis.
Just take Firefox Portable and disable many of the nasty defaults like third-party cookies etc. Then load all the paranoia extensions like no-script, safecache, safehistory, refcontrol, cslite etc. and you can create a pretty secure browser without having to develop one yourself.
Probably because people in the open source world write their own GUIs specifically for the task at hand in whatever language they are comfortable. I write my own PHP GUIs for MySQL databases all the time. If you're talking about GUI admin interfaces you may want to check out phpMyAdmin or HeidiSQL.
Self replicating machines... need a Skynet tag.

***Takes aim at Simian with flamethrower***
***Realizes this is pointless as Simian has just put on his Flame-proof coat***
***Switches FPC piercing rounds***

Make sure to use all-temperature wax.
The source was a solar glacier breaking off.

Even these primitive webpages look better than most on myspace.
Roman Salvation Army stores?
I wonder how often he has to remove references to himself cleaning the entry in the entry.
The previous version was 0.99.8 so 0.00.2 was added to make it 1.0.0
"Large Hadron Collider" I had to read that line several times.
FYI, In Japan, XP is the only flavor of Eee PC. Not sure about other countries.
I just installed OO 2.4 to work on a few spreadsheets and it feels really slow. The response (so far) was worse when working with graphs.

Or perhaps Rubik's@home.
The old 26 move algorithm was the same except 'select' then 'start'

How will you secure the webcam from theft or prevent someone from simply blocking the lens with gum, tape, shaving cream...?
Next time use a smaller font
