I actually go to the UW, where this professor is from, and I never got flagged for anything like that (or at least didn't get actually accused). I knew a guy who did though, and he got caught because, in our code, we were asked to comment functions describing their use, and he copypasta'd another kids function exactly, including the comments. They compare not only to the other students in the class, but to previous quarters as well, so that students who aced the course can't help the students currently taking it.

This doesn't mean anything. Nurture doesn't imply that there isn't a biological effect taking place. Just because there is an observable biological effect, doesn't mean that the biology is the cause. For example, someone who is in a bad mood will have certain observable brain activities, but you wouldn't necessarily say that the brain activities are causing the bad mood, it's just as likely to be because their girlfriend dumped them that morning, causing the bad mood, and therefore the brain activities.

But the big question is where is all this CO2 going to go. We have the ability to store CO2, but eventually we are going to run out of room to store it all, and even worse, if it leaks you've screwed over the area around the storage. I can't imagine that storage containers would last forever too, eventually, we would have to do something with it all.

That definately makes sense, It is a very expensive idea to make EVERYTHING SSD, it doesn't really make sense, because except for on the local level it wouldn't really make a huge difference either, due to network bandwidth limits.

The real question I see here is who actually decides the ruling on this situation, there isn't any kind of universal agency made to deal with this. So until there is I think most people would be satisfied with: "I own this land because I can defend it against you"

MSN.com=Yahoo.com. Busy portal, lots of content and services, far more popular sites and concepts than many Slashdotters seems to think.

I think it's supposed to be sorta like that, but also it behaves more as a news site in general, since it's connected to the MSNBC brand.

I'm probably going to get flamed for this, but I actually like the live search engine, frankly at this point it's as good as google in most cases. It definitely isn't perfect by any means but it's pretty decent. This helps a lot in the category of shopping too, because now they have a shopping section that is arguably better than google's as well.

Not to say being smart means better driving, but insurance companies find that if you have better grades you generally get in less accidents That said, I think that's more of a factor of responsibility rather than intelligence.

There was a guy a while back in my town who was trying to do this test, he taught drivers ed and during the driving would force students to talk on the phone with a friend. He got fired pretty quickly after the parents found out.

MS and Google don't just sell ad space on their own pages, they both handle advertisement on a variety of pages. That's how they make money and generate traffic. Yahoo does this as well, and actually have the highest traffic generation worldwide still today, so it makes sense that MS would try to acquire Yahoo to try to compete better with Google. I do agree that MS should try to stick what they are good at, but the fact is that almost everything is shifting online and MS needs to stay competitive.
