What is more interesting is, instead of stupidly gloating, to note which companies are still *in* business and why, rather to glibly talk about the failure of e-business. Some companies are making money, or have viable business models. Ok, so pets.com is dead. Oh darn. But look, we still have Amazon.com, Paypal, and E-Bay!
Do we have to go there again? The profitable companies sell pr0n.

Go read up on the statistics for suicides by former porn "actresses" (really "slaves"). They're illuminating. It's a testament to women's fortitude that more don't slit their wrists or gas themselves because of what men put them through.
I think you may be confusing cause and effect here. Just because there may be a correlation between the numbers does not mean that one act causes the other act.
More likely than not, in the case of a girl who commits suicide after having been in a pr0n flick, the reason for each action stems back to something earlier in her life.
You'll probably also find high incidences of drug use, child abuse, truancy, neglect, and various other social ills in the history of the suicidal pr0n stars.
I suggest that you target the cause of the problem - not the end result.
Yahoo has been pushing porn for years. Just check out some of the personals, or the adult clubs.
Not counting newsgroups, Yahoo clubs have the best free porn pictures on the net these days.
As a resident of western Michigan, I seriously doubt that the mere existance of a working cyber court would be enough to make a business choose this area over another. However, it would add to the multitude of things that Michigan does on an at least mediocre level. Michigan does have plenty of decent graduate schools, electricity, and an almost endless supply of fresh water. The road system has improved dramatically since the gas tax increase, and the reduction in property tax has almost eliminated the emigration of businesses to friendlier areas.
The cyber court won't fix Michigan's problems, but it appears to be a step in the right direction - keeping up the the technology Joneses.
"Anyone have their familiy not get it or actually turn on you for telling them the truth? "
Yes.
I've been discussing the with my wife for the past week; we don't see eye to eye either. I printed out the two previous Jon Katz posts to help explain how so many of us feel, and like yours, my wife made it through the first of 14 pages and left it alone.
She explains that she was teased during her school years but never felt the need to kill and I tried to relate the stories of what my friends and I went through day after day - the physical torture, whole classrooms joining in with chants of "Give me a D-E-F-E-C-T", being pelted with rocks (the list goes on and on), and when we finally had enough and tried to stand up for ourselves we were told that we were wrong, that we needed to forgive and forget.
I think I may have been able to at least explain my point of view, but I doubt she, or others like her who never had to survive it, could ever truly understand.

This is scary - remember the part in Demolition Man when an eye was removed in order to get access to an ATM?

This article didn't indicate whether or not a dead eye could still be read.
