Really, I have friends in the UK who are on the register for sex offenses, primarily for downloading indecent images of children. Why should I refuse to talk about my attraction? I told my parents that I'm attaracted to children and that I'm not ashamed of it. It does cause some arguments, but I say exactly what I think.

Countries such as China do have ridiculous and oppressive firewalls, however the USA and countries with similar attitudes to freedom do not respect free speech rights, rather they protect the rights of the "average" citizen. If you're a member of an unpopular minority group (I'm attracted to children, for example), your freedom of speech is censored, often by corporate groups who do not wish to be associated with unpopular people. By the very nature of democracy, unpopular groups will not be supported against censorship simply because governments do not want to lose votes.
I've personally had a legal website removed because it defended people who are attracted to children. Blogger received complaints from people who decided that defending attraction to minors equates to defending people who have sex with minors. The blog was hosted in the USA. I'm not saying that the methods used by China are acceptable, but for some people, they aren't much worse than the censorship which is rampant in supposedly free countries.

Maybe everyone in the World should locate every paedophile who hasn't committed an offense, that disgusting and perverted 18 year old who had sex with his 17 year old girlfriend, that dangerous predator who took a piss near a public place, then imprison them for life. Really, I have friends in the UK who are on the register for sex offenses, primarily for downloading indecent images of children. Okay, it's stupid to download such images because of the legal penalties, but does that make you a child molester? No, of course it doesn't, especially when you consider that downloading simple naturist photographs, which I avoid for legal reasons only, can be considered "child pornography" in many Western jurisdictions.
For the record, I would be happy to watch a torture of the people who attempted to plot the rape of those young girls, but I would be extremely angry if my friends who dowloaded illegal images were forced to register their internet IDs as if they were child molesters. They wanted a way to relieve their urges without harming children, but simply weren't sensible enough to consider the consequences. That makes them naive, but not evil.
Then you should consider people who have taken a piss at the side of the road. They could be on the sex offenders' register and they'd be forced to register their name on this "Internet registry". What are they going to do, take a piss in MySpace?
