It isn't about terrorists; it's about acclimating American citizens to the constant use of despotic authority and surveillance. Our tyrant rulers will only feel safe when we are thoroughly cowed and constantly monitored.

Agreed. It takes more clicks to accomplish the same tasks in Win7. And it's extremely irritating that they renamed certain features making it harder to locate them. The reason ofcourse is marketing. If new operating systems do not look different, few will buy them regardless of any "behind the scenes" improvements. XP was too good, there was very little to "fix." I'm in horrified suspense waiting to see how unusable they make Win8.

No expression of free speech "causes" harm. The harm is always caused by the small, ignorant minds that are listening and then responding, not with reason, but with violence.

I suppose the point is that if retirees are not paying for their medical care they will have more money to live on. Why is it though, that liberal types can't see that someone has to pay for "free" medical care. If the aged aren't paying for their own some other group will have to foot the bill, and consequently have less money to put away for their retirements. Sorry folks, but their ain't no free lunches out there.

A more plausible explanation might be that conservatives become bored with simple rote tasks and let their minds wander on to something more challenging. Perhaps liberals have very little to think about?

  8. Why was any data on the laptop? on Stolen VA Laptop Recovered · · Score: 1

The big question for me is, why was there any data on the laptop in the first place? At my company our laptops merely have client programs that can access data on servers only when the proper passwords have been entered. If a laptop is stolen it is only valuable to the thief as hardware; no data exists on the hard drive. I find it absolutely incredible that this sort of information was actually resident on a laptop drive.
