Skip to 60% though it watch 3 seconds skip 80% though watch 2 seconds Then sit down and start watching it.
Say the download took 30 mins or so its added a whole whopping 10 seconds to the person. I dont really see that system working in the slighest.
But again my argument for something like this.
Get in car. goto shops. Park car. (10-15mins) Get to shop. Walk around find something you want. (10 mins) Get to counter queue to pay (5-10mins) Get back to car + pay for car park (5mins) Go Home (10-15)mins
Insert CD into player and listen.
Or i could just go and fine several cd's of the same ont he internet (5 mins) Download (mutliple to get around posion files now) (45 mins) Listen(1 mins)
Some things to point out.
a) I didnt have to move b) It didnt cost me anything c) I didnt have to go to shops with screaming kids and people getting in my way every 30 seconds d) I didnt create polution e) I could have probably started listening to things withing the first 5 mins of the download starting
So what happens if a large company who makes desks and things does a massive cock up and exports a whole load of desks to the the wrong country. Its all more of less flat pack build it stuff isnt it ?
Hows a few guys in a wherrhouse meant to know which is for japan and which is for the US / UK etc.. when they have a whole loads of boxes that all say the same thing and contain the same thing.
I am sure it will be intresting when some kid in class gets region flipped by his portable cd player.
When the teacher asks whats wrong he could replay my CD player things i am in Japan etc...
Thats not true there is a big difference between SERVFAIL and NXDOMAIN
If dns times out its a timeout it will keep retrying. If you get an NXDOMAIN it will reject the mail saying domain does not exist. Either way the network is setup with a single point of failure.
Its not that expensive to setup a 2nd dns / mail in a datacenter somewhere else.
Well i use plusnet as an isp. I would never however use a homebased isp for running my mail off because typically their antispam sucks (except in this case) and they charge a £50 release fee for the domain if you leave.
Currently i am however 7 weeks into tracking a ADSL fault with plusnet. Plusnet says its BT's fault. BT now say its plusnets fault. Though neither of the 2 parties involved have asked me what the fault is other than i get disconnected from the internet between 10 - 30 times a day.
When i say disconnected i meant he ADSL looses sync with the kit in the local BT exchange. So i already know its not plusnets fault. But the way its being handled by plusnet customer support is pathetic and i am unable to communicate with BT about the fault. Plusnet always have to be there in the middle.
There certainly is a way todo this. Theres going to be 4 of you ? So if you each pay £20/month towards a net connection it should not be a problem to enter into an unlimited bisness grade account which dont have caps / limts etc.. but they do cost around £80/month or more.
All BT ADSL Lines in the UK charge the ISP's for data form the exchange to the ISP at a rate of around £300/mbit per month. This is why the limits exist.
I have been looking at moving away from my current ISP because they have caps between 4 - midnight where i cannot use more than 15GB during that timeslot per month. The rest of the time i can use as much as i want. After looking at other providers and being lied to by several of there sales staff i decided to stay with the current provider as it really is unlimited the rest of the time.
This is the worst response i got back from a company called griffin. After contacting them i replaied asking for there defination of unlimited. I fine the following rather misleading and down right dirty tricks.
> We have a number of packages available for Home and Business users which > can be viewed at http://www.griffin.com/Products . Griffin do not operate > a cap on the service, but we do monitor usage of Homeworker products with > anyone affecting the quality of service of other users being subject to > the terms set out below. > > "4.1 The Customer must not use the Service in a way that in Griffin's > reasonable opinion could affect the experience of others on the network; > More specifically heavy download users affecting the performance of the > network, in the case of homeworker ADSL products, may be asked to upgrade > their product to business ADSL, or in extreme circumstances Griffin > reserve the right to give a Migration Authority Code and ask the customer > to leave. A heavy user is defined by Griffin as anyone downloading or > uploading more than 50GB per calendar month."
Pritty much the UK ISP market is driven by lies and phrase words like unlimited / unmonitored / uncapped and by High speed with little to no thoughput options on all accounts.
Does this mean they have fixed the bug when you try to install vista in vmware it was coming up with Unknown error during install and going into an infanate reboot loop.
Well in the UK its really intresting thing about this problem. All guns that exist are licensed and there is further restrictions. The UK gun laws work inthe following way.
Nobody is can have a fully automatic weapon unless its in one of the forces (eg army navy etc..) Or some other rare specific reasons.
Nobody in england is permitted a small arms eg pistol of any type. This was brought in after somebody went into a school and shot a load of kids. When the UK forced all licensed guns of this type to be handed in. They removed 10% or so of the guns. Yup all the ones they actually knew that existed but created very small problems from sports shooters. All these people went out and replaced this with hi bore rifles which are accurate to 1000 meters+ compared to the 30 feet pistols they all had.
The only place inthe UK thats still permitted hand guns is N. Ireland and thats for various other reasons todo with local politics. But of course everything here is controlled. The goverment tracks when / where you shoot it and where you buy your ammo etc.. If you fail to shoot a gun you own 3 times in 2 years or so. It is likly that your license will also be pulled and your weapons take away.
But the law doesnt really seem to matter in any case. People who are going to commit crimes with gun migth as well break these licensing laws. Unfortunatly the gernal public seem to suffer for the small percentage who dont want to get a job. This really seems to be a growing trend recently in the UK.
Being in the UK. I have recently read of a bunch of new laws that have been brought in.
One of these recent changes include.
If somebody dies and you inherit their house you have 6 months to get somebody living in it or the goverment can they place somebody into your property who is on housing benifits.
Ok so they are trying to target what they call "hackers". One of the thing i recently heard about here was a few guys who missed a ferry after a weekend of drinking. So they stole a fishing boat from a harbour and tried to get back on it. They got lost as you do in the dark on a boat if you dont know how to naviagte. So they called the lifeboat out etc.. They towed them back into where they came from. To make a long story short they were released from the police station with a caution.
But with USB you can have up to 127 devices.
I am thinking i should invest in a company that supplies usb hubs

was not the 1st April
Isnt there an option to prevent the loading of modules ?
Would this not remove the list from the kernel.
Oh wait if i am root i can just recompile the kernel with the option on again !

Might have to give it another bash soon.
