In his interview, Katz says that the Virginia estate of James Madison was used. I hope he wasn't referring to the huge home of Mason Verger. That was the Biltmore Estate, the largest private residence in the country, located near Asheville, NC. (As the road sign in the movie points out.) I've been out there plenty of times, and if you've only been there once, you're hard-pressed to forget it.
I am a Help Desk Manager for a university, and I can tell you that it is a completely different story than with a business. We have 12 colleges within the university, all with different support needs and budgets. As it is, our central support org has about 70 full-timers and 40-50 part-time student employees. Now, that is for network infrastructure, systems administration, residence hall networking support, faculty distance education (or whatever the current buzzword is) support, business services, and general support for 40,000 or so clients. Our Help Desk itself has two full-time positions and about 20 student employees. Some of the colleges have their own Help Desks for departmental specifics, and I can't even begin to go into those. All in all, though, we seem to manage fairly well with the resources we get. Kind of like a goldfish . . . we only get as big as the bowl we're in. --chk--
I think 123nc.com is a good idea, even if their marketing dept. could use some major work. This Australian site is no different. Now, being crime-free, I don't have the viewpoint of a person who has been convicted of a crime that looks misleading on a web page but that can be easily explained in conversation. However, I like having the option of checking out my babysitter or cleaning service person (if I could afford one) if I have any doubts. My 2/100 of a dollar --chk--
"Personally even with Gygax back there, there's too much history to want to go near a TSR product." Actually, Gygax's return would attract me to the group formerly known as TSR more than anything. In Gygax's day, people posted every idea they ever had about D&D on everything from BBSes to Dragon magazine, and some of it even got published. I see this turnaround as a good thing more than anything. My $0.02
You say that South Park is awful. Granted, but this award is about concepts that have nothing to do with its awfulness. The Oscar is for Original Score, not tact or cleanliness. The song was very well-written, and the movie itself was a great concept that offended everyone equally.:) Personally, I love the series, and the movie just caps the creative careers of two great thinkers, although they choose some vulgar ways to express themselves. My $0.02
