Marshall could use an economic boost, but it's not going to happen. I live VERY close to Marshall. If you asked people from there about patent filings or large businesses moving in 98% of the people would reply with: "Who-da-dun-what?". Marshall's economy hasn't been all that great since people lost interest in somewhat flashy Christmas light displays. (Not that it was wonderful before that.) The town is run down and already been through a pretty big collapse. It's what people around here call "Where the Po' Folk come from". P.S. No, it's not the breeding ground of one of my ex's nor a high school football rival. My opinion is 100% "fair and balanced".

Although I wouldn't doubt it. The costing of living here is quiet cheap. The real reason is once a case is setup in Marshall it's pretty much GG patent holder wins in 5 minutes flat. (That includes the time it takes to swear in.)

I run 4 systems with cards ranging from a geforce2 gts, to a 7800gt, and i've never had an issue other than when the 7800 just came out the drivers didnt much like it yet, but was fixed shortly thereafter. I play games that range from quake1 technology to bleeding edge, quake4 types of engines.

ok, I for one am all for a happy medium between these 2 groups. These companies are trying to stay on the bleeding edge of technology. They are also major employers of geeks and nerds (our bretheren). They have to have fundage to push technology forward. Yes, I run linux on every computer I own, but people have to realize that 95% of consumers dont care. They just want everything to auto-magically work. Until this happens linux will be a minority. If Nvidia open sourced their driver their competitors would have the upper-hand, and they wouldn't be so "bleeding edge" anymore and have less money for r&d and to pay their programmers. From a business perspective, they would lose way more than they gained from the deal. To be honest most "bleeding edge" OSS software is buggy too. I think Id software's model of GPL game engines is the ideal model in this case, but oh well. Sure it gets on my nerves that companies won't develop for linux.. I make websites a native Linux Flash Authoring tool would really make me a happy camper. When a company commercial or not develops for a platform I love, I happen to jump for joy and praise the gods... Nvidia's cards work and rock in linux.. Don't you people ever appreciate what you have? I thank nvidia everyday for making good quality linux drivers. Are they perfect? no, but then again nothing ever is.

I whole-heartedly disagree. I personally think he's talking about ideas and inspiration. It's along the lines of David Bowie proclaiming to be a "crafty thief". Your statements must be based upon growing up in modern society. I don't agree with warfare marketing, but that doesn't justify art as being useless corruption. I greatly enjoy art, but it's not like I spend much money on it. I goto a museum now and then, I look at stuff online that people slave over and admire and appreciate it. p.s. It's "Picasso".

Actually 8 bit to 16 bit is far greater than double quality. The quality essentially doubles everytime you add a bit.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm assuming this means the digtal to analog conversion rate. This means it's sampling the analog audio 16,000 times per second instead of 8,000 times per second. Which in theory is double the "quality".
