Electrolytics... and tend to introduce a small amount of phase shift into whatever AC signal you're passing through them Umm, ALL capacitors introduce phase shift to an AC signal, and it is related to the value of capacitance. Tantalum caps are not exempt from this, or they wouldnt be very useful. You must know this being an electrical engineer.
Smoking, and probably many other things that happen to be carcinogenic, have other associated health problems. Even if you were immune to cancer smoking would probably shorten your lifespan alot still seeing that it is linked to emphysema, and other chronic lung problems, and heart disease.
The PS3's Has 1 core and 7 SPE's, 1 SPE is reserved for the OS, and Sony tells developeres to only use 5 of the remaining 6. Just because it is not called a "core" doesnt mean it isnt a processor. Each SPE is a specialized CPU in itself, and they are each capable of acting as a general purpose processor.
The 360 has more *useable* RAM than the PS3 The ps3 has less memory yes, but its memory is clocked at 3.2 GHz. This is like comparing apples to oranges.
I have no idea what is the better buy, and I'm not really interested in buying either.
The original post was alluding to "closed source" and "open source" software, Richard Stallman
Actually dave, The original post does not mention open source software, in its general form, as an alternative. It mentions the Open Voting Consortium as an alternative.
What about GLBasic? I know that when I was a kid writing a program that could do graphics easily would be very exciting. The gurus of today never had an oppurtunity to try this kind of stuff when they were starting out.
I like Canon myself for alot of the reasons you mention, and I would recommend them to relatives and friends. One drawback though is the lack of driver support for Linux from Canon. ( at least the last time I tried )
Perhaps the fault doesnt lie solely with "the Bush regime". But fellows like those in the Bush regime refuse to even acknowledge the problem let alone spend the needed research dollars into finding ways to prevent/slow/stop the impending problems our planet faces.
Lets see,
Volume of 6,831 AA batteries: (these batteries are probably bigger?)
V = 6,831 * pi * 0.007m^2 * 0.05m = 0.0526m^3 (batteries per car)
times 100M cars = 5.26 Million cubic meters of dead batteries every 4-5 years
I hope Li-Ion batteries aren't too toxic.
Maybe we should wait for fuel cells?
