  1. First ON-TOPIC Post! on Packard Bell to Shut Down US Line, Lay Off 80% · · Score: 3

Packard Bell was one of the worst companies I had ever seen in regards to customer service - and product durability. They were sleezy to deal with - including their authorized service centers. It's a shame that so many of their employees are now job-less - but it's the market speaking: If you berate and ignore your customer's needs, turn around and close your eyes to their problems and concerns - don't be suprised that if, or when you turn around, they aren't there anymore... As for the workers - if you are good people, and tried to help everyone you could - there most likely is a better job awaiting you around the corner... :)

  2. Re:argh.. on More Quakes For Taiwan · · Score: 1

We all feel for the victims of Earthquakes, and natural disasters. What makes people seem so heartless is that even though the quake in Taiwan was only to affect a mere 6-8 percent of chip production, all the RAM manufacturers when into INSTANT PRICE GOUGING mode. What should really have been said is that "I feel bad for the people in Taiwan, and I really feel bad for the consumer of their high-tech goods" These companies "whore" the whole damn country for a few more dollars in the pocket - and a hefty pension. Higher prices mean less purchase - less purchase means slumps in sales - which affect Taiwans economic recovery. Bad choices for these RAM manufacturers - which choose sheer profit over long-term prosperity.

  3. Re:NT is pirated mostly on Microsoft Clarifies Linux Myths · · Score: 1

I am a MCP - and I run Linux as servers. NT just isn't reliable or configurable as Linux is - so I am working on weaning my home network off of NT. And, BTW - My copy of Windows NT is legit, I got it at a garage sale with a receipt from the person selling too - so if it's pirate, it's legit now, at least as far as law is concerned.
